Not that I can get approved by BoA anymore, but the Amtrak World card (the one with the $79 AF) is now up to 40,000 points after $2,500 spend, the highest ever. Great offer.
I was thinking the same...I still fly mainly SWA but I find a marked difference in flights, delays, and schedules over the past year or two. And not for the better. it's like on the one hand they constantly promote the CP,and cheaper flights..and on the other hand they're designing schedules that are unworkable for a normal family... It's like some other used to be great travel hacks, getting harder to do. And don't get me started on all the delays etc when no other airlines are having 'weather troubles'.....Well, if you'd like my unsolicited opinion...
I am kinda (a lot) frustrated with SWA. I was delayed 90 mins again yesterday getting home from CHS. Luckily, I was at my parents when they sent the first delay, so I didn't sit around the airport for the extra time. The delay just kept getting longer and longer. No clue what the issue was. Our aircraft was delayed leaving Dallas, which put us behind. That is 3 of the 4 flights this month with long delays. I'm over it. From now on, I will try frontier or allegiant or spirit if they have nonstop for much less money (after fees of course) or better flight times, since SW is a hot mess anyways.
I have been a big proponent of SW and haven't flown any other airlines for a decade, but the last 6 months have done me in.![]()
can someone explain the amtrak offer to me? I know someone who might be able to use that bonus..... how much travel can 40k points get you?Not that I can get approved by BoA anymore, but the Amtrak World card (the one with the $79 AF) is now up to 40,000 points after $2,500 spend, the highest ever. That sounds like something DH would sayHe is the spender between us and would pay it without thinking too vs I want to analyze everything
He's also the type to look at his bank account and be like, I have $X there so it's okay to spend it. So he defers to me as he knows I am trying to make sure we don't fritter away excess money since he has a lot in commissions this year. The other component is that I want to get a Europe trip in soon, and if we get APs again, I will always be looking for an excuse to go down there
Because a big cost is already covered! And we need to get our money's worth! And the problem there is vacation time... if I didn't take any more days off this year, after my first pay period in January I would have 17.5 days. DH would have 6 hours. APs make it easy to 'fritter away' DHs vacation time!
I'm exhausted from the horse show, but I have a great horse show hotel review to share with you all tomorrow. It involves a first for me: car races occurring in the hotel parking lot at 1:00 AM and two calls to the police.![]()
OMG we are the same personI’m trying to balance saving to retire early because I can not work until I am 65 and also living now. SO doesn’t love work but I think he would be totally happy working until 65. I have taken control over the finances and tell him we don’t have money for that but it’s so hard to say no. I hate limiting our trips because of money. I just have to get more points and bank bonuses lol
Oh WOW, I feel for them too paying cash! I wish I could still get SW flights. For almost 2 years now I have had almost no non-stop flights. Now I see all NYC flights will be out of LaGuardia so what I was seeing had made sense. My SW days seem to be overOh no! Yeah I can see that too if you'll be back soon-ish. And I feel so bad, I am in a FB group with a few dis-ers and they are in the same boat as you - $400 or $500pp for flights. And they're paying cashFor us our SW flights were only $149pp each way so much easier to stomach (plus CP and just 2 of us).
BummerI've always been a big SW fan too. Luckily we (as in DH and I) haven't had any issues really, I think my most recent bad delay was flying out of SNA last March and almost an hour? The biggest thing was we almost hit curfew and wouldn't have been able to leave. Dh has had quite a couple delays recently, but he still prefers them. But his really bad delays the last two trips were both Frontier (and the last flight experience was really bad)
I thought I remembered you were up around NYC after posting. That's where some of these people are too. I think one was $400pp F-M from EWR.Oh WOW, I feel for them too paying cash! My main options are JetBlue or United. If I book JetBlue as soon as it is released I get a good price. You can find a cheap JetBlue here or there after that, but it is usually on a Wednesday or some weird times and I can't do that for a quick weekend trip. United goes up and down and all around.I also feel JetBlue prices competitively against United so they both fluctuate a lot. It is annoying.
Yup, EWR is my primary airport! I was trying Thurs - Sun or Fri - Sun. The Sunday home is a killerI thought I remembered you were up around NYC after posting. That's where some of these people are too. I think one was $400pp F-M from EWR.
Now I need to find out who I share a birthday with so we can shareHappy birthday to you all too!!! Who has the cake?
You don't want a 0.83% return!? I can't see why not.
This goes back to HS with probability, but in a group of 23 people there is a 50-50 chance at least 2 have the same birthday. Crazy how that works, right? Now I need to find out who I share a birthday with so we can share![]()
We stayed at a Kimpton property, the Nine Zero, that was within walking distance. I believe you can use IHG points for Kimpton hotels.Question for ones who have been to or live in Boston. Looking to go for a quick weekend. Wanting to go to the Aquarium and of course Faneuill Hall. I believe they are somewhat near each other. Hoping to use my IHG points so looking for a Crowne Plaza or even a Holiday Inn Express that would be closest to these places.
When we were there for our layover I only remember seeing a Marriott nearby.
Don't need to pay the balance, it's still the same account, just the product type changes. All the charges and due dates just stay the same. As far as I can see, nothing really "transfers", it's more of an update. Hope that made senseWhen I PC a CIP to a CIC, do I need to pay the balance first? Or will my balance just transfer to the CIC? It’s only a $50 phone bill so nothing big.
Did you do GCs again for these to load to serve?4k left now that I took advantage of the AA miles and Southwest shopping bonus
