Yeah...probably... haha!

Quick Q- anyone ever had a problem with doing basically only Plastiq for an MSR? This would be on my Arrival+. It coded fine for the one payment we did on P2s Arrival+ and I can see that it gave us miles for it so not worried there. However we had tons of other spend on that card so not sure if doing almost purely Plastiq payments is pushing it for a MSR YKWIM? I think for mine I’d just hit it out with the next few mortgage payments and maybe drop a meal out or something on there too. Think Barclay cares?

Totally off-topic but I'm sure you'll all get a kick out of this here...

I'm not big on shopping...so when I buy something, I usually buy a lot of it so I don't have to shop frequently. It probably also won't surprise you that I price shop everything and take forever to make a decision....I can spend 30 minutes making a decision over $0.50!

Well today was Deodorant day... My supply is running low so I headed to Walmart which is right next to my Giant Eagle (grocery store) to make this all-important purchase! I first ducked into Giant Eagle just to comparison shop (and this is after I also looked up some prices online before I headed to the store). I'll spare you the nickels and pennies of my analysis but Walmart was the winner. I'll also spare you how I went back and forth a dozen times on brands as well (basically debating if switching from the one I currently use was worth it over $0.68...somehow I convinced myself to stick with the tried and true product)....

So anyway...as any normal male would do, I had no cart, no basket...and who cares. I proceeded to grab four 2packs of the deodorant I had settled on and 4 individual antiperspirants that are for use on especially sweaty days. (Yes I know this is way more detail than you wanted). And so I proceeded to carry 12 deodorant cartridges (is that the word??) cradled in my arms, up to the register and plop them down on the belt. I'm thinking nothing of this activity at all as this could be a 12+ month supply for me which is exactly how I like to shop.

Well, the look a young 20-something Walmart register operator gives you when you purchase 12 things of deodorant...let's just say it's a little strange. She's thinking "how sweaty is this dude"...or "does he eat this stuff or something". So uhh I think I became my own "person of walmart" meme today...

But hey, it's $25 towards my MSR and I'm set on the deodorant front for a year probably!
Having trouble deciding whether to 'haha, love or wow' this post lol! Why, exactly, did you tell us all this??

Yep, I've used just plastiq to meet several MSR's on AA cards.

I can’t believe our luck but it’s showing no rain for the next four days which are our park days and the temps stay close to 70. It’s been raining consistently since we got here (to tokyo Disney/not japan) and it’s only 62 so it’s a cold rain. I’m very glad I bought sandals and the umbrella.

I'm on a Japan travel page on FB and lots of reports of rain all over, it seems. We went expecting lots of rain (we landed the same night a typhoon was heading straight for the coast) and barely got a drizzle the whole 10 days!!

Hope it's not affecting your plans too negatively.

This reminds me of at least 3 of people I know that have only one thing in common. We all know you aren't actually an old man yelling "Get off my lawn" randomly at small children. I'm going to take a stab at your astrological sign since it's the only thing in common with these 3 aforementioned people. I'm guessing you sir, are a Libra! I don't know much about the astrological signs or anything but one of my friends said the following to me when I asked where he wanted to go for dinner. He said, "Didn't you know I'm a Libra? I can't make a decision." This then reminded me of the other two I know that are like that. I've been shopping with them and they all share the same sign. :-)

I am super salty about being at work right now.

We leave late next Wednesday night for our trip. We are working this weekend and someone is off several days too. It's funny, because we have these 'floater' positions that are supposed to help with overtime when people are off, so we don't have to work a million 12 hour days or run up against our 72 hour a week limit, but... somehow they are never called in to help with this when I am working 12 hours, only when my coworkers are (the ones that work second and third shift).

giphy.gif

So my schedule is as follows:
Today 3am 12 hrs
Tomorrow 6am 8.5hrs
Wed normal
Thursday 3am 12hrs
Friday normal
Saturday Sunday Monday 3am 12hrs
Tuesday Wednesday normal (wait almost forgot Tuesday is a plant wide meeting so 9hrs on Tuesday!)
Leave late Wednesday, 9pm local time and land at MCO 1:30am EST

Some time in there I pack. And I've got an extra 12hr day compared to the other person, because the person taking PTO is doing a half day for the last day so I come in early for the second half of that shift. And really, either today or tomorrow I will leave an hour early because my lovely boss added training for everyone, thus why I must come in at 6am tomorrow, which put me at 72.5 hours. Then she always questions me if I tell her she is putting me over the limit like I can't do math.

giphy.gif

Today was a 3am day no matter what, the rest are due to someone's PTO. We start up early and even though it's almost a guarantee I won't actually do anything until at least 5am or later, someone has to be here just in case.

tenor.gif

BUT guess who has also been here, since about 3:20am! One of our floaters! Who worked himself out a sweet gig last year when we had a lot of changes going on, and he works 12hr days Monday through Wednesday and if he does anything beyond that is OT! And your base is typically a tad higher on that schedule, because it's calculated like you are working a 40hr week schedule, if that makes sense. Example, if this is a $50k/yr job, at 40hrs a week I make ~$24/hr, but coworker would make ~$26.70/hr so he still makes $50k a year total. And that means the OT rate is higher than mine, when he does it! Though he doesn't too often. I would have jumped on that job in a heartbeat BUT we were told that that schedule wasn't going to be allowed, it would be normal 40hr week.. And then they grandfathered him in, even though his official acceptance was after the change date. Had I taken it I would have been before the change date and should have been grandfathered in, but they told me they wouldn't let me do the 3 12s :badpc: I don't begrudge him for his sweet gig, I totally blame HR and old management for how this turned out which is a bit longer story.

Anyways, long rant about that aside... WHY AM I HERE IF SOMEONE ELSE COMES IN AT THE SAME TIME ON THESE MORNINGS???? WHEN THERE IS NO REAL WORK FOR THE FIRST TWO TO FOUR HOURS????

I'm going to attempt to suggest I not come in early on these 3am Mondays any more unless he is off... it's not value added :P

And on top of everything else, my other coworker has decided to take off a week and a half after I come back.

So that schedule is like:
Me, off through Tuesday
Wednesday 12hrs til 7pm
Thursday FOURTH OF JULY 12hrs 7pm (I have worked every 4th since starting here... consolation is it's been until either 3pm or 7pm so I can still kinda do fireworks/bbqs, and we are paid 8hrs holiday plus double time for however many hours we work)
Want to interject here that there are rumors that they want to give us a 4 day weekend starting the 4th, but there are also rumors that they want to run us straight through the holiday and weekend.
Friday Sat Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri 12 hrs 7pm.

tenor.gif

That can't actually happen because that would put us over our 72hr limits. And really working the weekend of the 4th doesn't follow our every other weekend schedule that we are currently on. But who wants to bet either way I get to work up to 72hrs?

Meanwhile, while I am off the floater mentioned before is just going to cover my shift every day so the others aren't working 12s.....

I resemble this observation...

And have also debated over which deodorant to buy to save pennies. And I feel like I chose incorrectly the last time around :P

It’s mostly only rained on our travel and rest days so we’ve been pretty lucky so far. I was expecting super hot/humid weather and rain all the time but it hasn’t been too bad. It’s much better temperature wise in Tokyo than Kyoto

Wow I think you need a new job lol

In all honesty though that sounds horrible. I think I take for granted dh’s job and my ability to be a sub without working full time.

I keep telling DH I'm going to quit because he is having a crazy sales year right now :rotfl:

I've been having trouble finding anything else that actually pays a reasonable salary for our ridiculous cost of living out here. One more reason to move to FL, like we've talked about! Right now I make a lot, way over my base salary, because I work a lot. If I could do more normal weeks with occasional OT that would be totally different. But if I add up everything in that post to how much I've worked this year, that puts me at 365hrs of OT in 30 weeks. But on the other hand, when I look at other jobs they are like, we want to pay you 2/3 of your base! With much worse benefits! Um, that's not totally sustainable out here...

Ok with my work schedule this week, I am debating my time off... originally I went with Thursday being the first day off because we were taking the 2:30pm flight, so I would have to be off part of the day anyways so I just did the whole thing. And then when we switched to really late on Wednesday instead. And then about two weeks later is when this girl added her PTO this week. So now I am thinking of taking Wed off, since we are debating when to get to MK on Thursday after a night at MCO Hyatt (and I kind of want to do a late Crystal Palace breakfast so we can have breakfast and lunch foods :)) and on Friday we have the Backstage Magic Tour and I don't really want to go into everything plus our cruise massively sleep deprived. We come back on Sunday now but I have off through Tuesday because originally we thought we were staying longer. But because I am a Libra, I can't decide if I should just shift my PTO up by a day and do Wed through Mon, or just blow another day of PTO adding Wed :rotfl:

I had a horrible work schedule like you describe back when I worked in TV news. At one point it was so bad, I was getting so thin and I felt exhausted all the time. I went to the doctor and he literally said to me "Are you alive?" He had never seen blood pressure that low. He said it was because I was essentially in a sleep state while awake. I was producing overnight and swinging to dayside and going to graduate school full time. There are huge swaths of my life then that I do not remember.

I got a different job on a normal schedule. I don't know your budget or financial obligations but I would suggest you cut where you can so you can get yourself out of that job and in to a new one. Even if you have to take a small pay cut to start, you can work hard and prove yourself to get a raise or promotion at the next job to increase your salary.

In my old age of 39 now I just refuse to do things that I do not want to do. That definitely includes tasks at my job that I think are absolutely pointless. My boss will suggest an idea that is stupid and I will say so and put my foot down. I know my worth. They need me more than I need them at this point. (#FIRE thread!)

Seriously - bet on yourself and start that job hunt in earnest after your big Disney trip. And blow that extra PTO too. You deserve it.

Their pins here are pretty bad lol. They aren’t very good quality. They don’t do the whole pin trading here. I did see some I liked but they didn’t say Tokyo Disney on them. What are prints?

That’s stinks about the pins. The prints are like the artwork copies . you got one of the carousel of progress. I got one of the wedding pavilion and a Tomorrowland one. We want to get more but we are also running out of places to put them so we are waiting to see if their is anything unique in the other parks.

Yeah that’s kind of a tough decision but you also should like your job somewhat. The cost of living there was a huge part of why we didn’t pick Colorado. The houses weren’t great for what we would’ve paid. I don’t think anyone here would tell you not to move to Florida lol

Oh yeah I didn’t see any kind of prints here. Most everything here is stationary and snacks. They literally have every kind of weird home product you could think of like a spatula holder, tissue box cover, toilet seat cover, idk just all kinds of stuff lol. We did buy the soap dispenser that dispenses in the shape of mickey’s head. Dh asked if we needed one for each bathroom in our new house
