There's actually been mixed reports on that. I put my SSN in there (so do others), I know that other people leave it blank. People on both sides have been approved and people on both sides have been denied... LOL!

Ugh, our AC went out yesterday morning and the HVAC guy just called me and said he can't make it until Wednesday or Thursday! He said they're so booked it's "unbelievable." I'm sure he's right. I swear I should have gone into HVAC instead of law school.

Of course my mom is like "you should just call someone else, forget your warranty." Yeah, I'll just pay $45 a month for the warranty, plus the $125 I've already paid for the service call, and then pay $600 for the new part to someone else who could MAYBE get there tomorrow instead of Wednesday. That makes sense.

I would add that if anyone is booking a paid reservation at a Hyatt, remember that Hyatt has a Best Rate Guarantee. So it could really pay off if you do a little research and price comparison on a site like Trivago when booking with Hyatt. Paging @elgerber and anyone else interested re: Delta Amex Biz bonus.....

Called again today to chase my missing 70,000 Skypesos. Got told 1. My offer was 35k after 4k spend and then another 35k after some additional amount of spend (Actually it was 70,000 miles after $4k). 2. My qualifying spend to date is $197 (I have spent about $4,800 on the card). 3. Tax payments don't count. (They do)

The phone rep was very helpful and courteous, but I get a different story every time I call. (I have given up using online chat as they are beyond useless). Anyway, after 15 mins on hold, I got told that yes, tax payments do count and a query has been sent to the relevant department. I should call back in a week if I don't see my miles.

So back to wait and see......

This is why I didn't renew my home warranty. It's so limiting and the vendors they use aren't that great IMO. I had a nightmare with a plumber I used through the warranty company.

Glad it's not that hot yet. I remember in June 2008 we moved into a rental in Richmond and the AC upstairs was out for over a week and the highs were around 100 all week. It was disgusting. And the delay was because the owner had a home warranty.

I've actually had good luck with them when we've had AC issues before, and they replaced my MIL's whole heat pump last year. To be fair, I don't think it would matter who we called at this point. I'm sure everyone is busy. Plus, I have coverage for our well pump included and I'm confident that's going to go out relatively soon. It's 19 years old at this point. Even if I set aside what I pay every month for the warranty so far, it wouldn't come close to the cost of replacing the well pump or heat pump when it comes out.
