I'm trying to remember, but I'm inclined to say no. I've bought physical Disney Gift Cards from the site before (for the cooler designs), but don't do it often. I think if Ebates did credit, I'd do it more often.

Ebates doesn't and swagbucks stopped working on gc through shop disney too. I tried ebates yesterday since it was 15% but haven't gotten an email and don't expect to.

So, I just redeemed some AA miles and used my latest card's $250 travel credit for actual flight and car through the AAvacations site. I didn't want to do it because I need all that for WDW but it's a situation where better to do it than pay cash and actually better flight options on AA portal.

Long story short - my MIL went for a shot in her back about 6 weeks ago. To help with back pain. Doctor nicked a nerve and she immediately lost all feeling below the waist. Had to have emergency surgery to relieve a hematoma in her spine. Hasn't been able to move her legs or any feeling below waist since. Was in ICU for 3 weeks, then moved to a rehab facility and in a few days is moving to a different one. They are going to have to sell their 4000sqft 2-story and get a small ranch. My dh needs to go back to help his dad in about 10 days.

Was super thankful to have the miles and travel credit. SOOOO much cheaper than cash for flight and car!

Yikes! So sorry to hear that. I have back issues but other than when I've been rear ended in an accident I've been remarkably pain free for many years (wasn't always the case but a good chiro helped a lot!)

For those that were interested in the egypt abd the dis is going to do a dis abd trip. No info yet but has an interest list and you should email john if interested. Sounds like from the podcast today they expect the regular one and their dis one to sell out quick or at least the booking discounts will.

OMG! My oldest DD (who is definitely beyond 5) is planning to ride the "hello kitty' plane when she goes to a wedding next year in Cambodia. I can't remember if she said she has to fly it to or from Japan or any of the details, but its in the plan somewhere. There aren't too many direct flights from here to Cambodia so she will have to probably stop anyway, maybe in Singapore. We always used to drop into the shop at Epcot to get hello kitty and other things. I have Pokémon albums from when the kids were young. My grands can have them when they get beyond the destroy on first sight phase. They are getting better, but leave em with a pop up book and they think they have to pick the popup off the page.

Yes! The EVA Air planes!

The doctor messed up big time. He knew it immediately too. Cancelled all other appts and headed straight for the ER with them. Stayed with my FIL at the hospital that evening while she had surgery.

My inlaws waited several weeks but then filed a medical malpractice suit. They weren't going to but then the reality began to set in of how life changing this will be. My FIL is going to have to retire early now, help caring for my MIL as my FIL cannot do it all, selling their home and buying something else, the medical bills, etc.
Oh man so sorry to hear this. Glad our hobby can help with your situation. In my experience (neuroscience nursing) the longer sensation and mobility are gone the less likely a full recovery happens. That being said, I’ve seen some miracles and cases where I (and all my colleagues) were surprised at how well people did. Will pray for her!

The Hello Kitty planes are pretty cool. When my son lived in Taiwan he ended up on one by accident and even he was amused.

Any mention of what month the DIS trip will be? Also any mention of how that trip might differ from the regular itinerary, if at all? I'm gearing up to book the December regular departure (but am not 100% sure about traveling to Egypt (safety concerns) so not certain I'll keep the ressie beyond the time period for a refund of the deposit.

@wendow I'm really sorry to read about your MIL. I actually read a book a few weeks ago written by a woman whose husband had something similar happen -- went in for a back injection and things went very wrong. He did end up recovering somewhat but not completely (I don't think that's a spoiler if anyone wants to read it -- it's primarily about how her relationship with her husband was affected; it called "Together" by Judy Goldman).

I honestly am not sure of the latest thinking. She's not gotten any feeling back so I think the doctors are a bit baffled. Their house is huge and the master bedroom and laundry are all upstairs. The doctors told my FIL they would need to get a ranch house because she may never be able to do stairs. I really don't think the doctors think she will fully recover at this point.

She is moving to another facility in a couple days and will be there for a couple months. After that, she should go home and just be outpatient for PT/OT but I suspect she will need some kind of mobility device to get around :(

There are always those stair chair lifts - not sure what the real name is, but if she can transfer with help they might be an option. I have basement and 1st and 2nd floor with bedrooms on all 3 levels, but still a small house at least to me. If I have to when I get older (and I'm only a year or two off your MIL's age), I will put in laundry on the main level. I moved it off the main level when I came here, but it can come back if necessary.

My MIL had gone to many chiros over the years and gotten some relief but never enough. She was hit by a car when walking in a parking lot in the late 80’s. Messed her back up then.

They considered this but moved away from the idea. Not sure why. It’s a ton of work but I’d prefer to see them move into a smaller house in a retirement community. The house hadn’t gotten the attention it needs. They have a half acre and big pool. My FIL can’t take care of it all. He’s been falling behind with it all for years so it’s just time.

I am getting ready to book our cruise on RCCL Oasis of the Seas for December 2020. Prices are great because it is before the Holidays and the kids will just be getting home from college on Winter Break. So, I have about 400,000 UR's right now. Just starting to replenish my stash after using 200,000 from the last cruise. I am having such a hard time parting with these points....

Originally was going to go cheap (as we have other vacations planned for 2020). So, for 4 in an inside cabin (which we have always done 4 in a room and it works) would be about $2100 or with CSR or 140,000 points. Then we have been spoiled with balcony's so I priced us for 4 in a balcony room and it would be $2750 or 183,000 UR's. Then for the heck of it - I priced out 2 Inside Rooms that connect. So kids would have their own room. That would be $3200 or $213,000 UR's. An extra room would be nice but then giving up the balcony. They don't have 2 connecting balconies available (and it was more than I wanted to spend anyway).

I have the points - just hate using them. I like to hoard them. But I know I can get more... I don't know which way to go.. Any suggestions.
Wow, that's a great price! I'm at $4400 for a balcony on the Harmony for March 2020. I might need to start looking for our 2020 Holiday getaway.

Wow!! Sounds like the same shot! Some kind of epidural steroid thing is what she had too. My in-laws are celebrating 50 years of marriage next year. Wonder if my MIL could handle this book right now or if it’d be too much. I definitely want to read though. Thanks for sharing about it!

Wow! I hope she recovers some use of her lower body. I'll keep your MIL and FIL in my prayers!
