Where do the AA Biz mailers come from? Do they also come from signing up our pet rocks, or does something else trigger those?

In less than a month, I will drop to 3/24 for the first time in forever LOL! What to do, what to do :-)
I haven’t gotten any biz mailers. Most people aren’t sure what triggers them lol. Maybe just pray for one LOL!

The “pet rocks” thing seems to more trigger personal mailers.

For the last year and a half Chase has had a policy of only one Sapphire card at a time. Whether it's the Standard, Preferred or Reserve. They also recently changed the time between SUBs to 4 years from 2.

You are absolutely correct in your points. However, part of the game is finding loopholes and there's a exploit that can allow you to apply for two Sapphires at the same time that @GusGus16 mentioned as the modified double dip. There's a full write up on it over on DISchurners for the details, but many of us have both CSR and CSP's from after that rule was enacted through the original double dip and several successes have shown the modified method successful as well so far. It would work on the SW cards too which has the same 1 in a family rule, but it's not as useful since getting two person cards don't add up to a companion pass still, which is usually why someone would go for two SW cards. (but you'd still get a boatload of points from the bonuses if you didn't care about CP)

At that point it's all about personal comfort whether to do it or not, but I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that there is a work around for that part at least if someone was interested. No work around for the sign up bonus restriction though :( That one's tough.

It was at the new one in the Bay Area. I’m planning to message them today.

Sounds like the same one we went to. Between my message and DH's trying twice we have not been able to get any resolution. They keep saying they will fix it, but they don't. Let me know if you get a better response? I could tell that the person I was messaging had no idea what he was doing (later confirmed by a follow up phone call where he had flagged the wrong restaurant as not giving me 4x). I'll post if my credit ever hits my account.

ETA- Spoke too soon. Just checked and that $10 finally posted. Guess DH's last msg made a difference? Honestly I was willing to let the $10 slide, but since we don't have a Ruth's Chris nearby and the local CFF closed I found it really annoying that Shake Shack wasn't crediting. Still not sure if it will in the future, though. I guess time will tell.

QUESTION: DH is applying for a SW business card. He owns a small business and hasn't had a new Chase card in about 5 years, so there should be no problem qualifying. He has a question about one of the questions, though. After all the business information and personal information is entered, there is a box that asks for his Rapid Rewards # and right next to that is a box asking "Percent of Ownership." Are they asking how much of the company he owns, how much of the rapid rewards account he owns, or what? Could we put MY account number in instead of his, as I would love to get the points in my account as I'd then qualify for a CP! (We are going to double up on his account and get a CP anyhow, but I'd like to have it in MY name instead of his as I travel- with DD- more frequently than he does!)

That’s % ownership of the business. You can’t enter your number on his app (I mean you could try but if it doesn’t work or you get caught it could spell trouble).

They are asking for the percent of the business....
You can’t put your RR number in since Chase matches the number to the name when confirmating the info with SW

Why don’t you apply for your own SW business card

I did, as I do scientific editing on my own, out of the house, but it was refused as I didn't have a registered business name. I also sell on eBay so I am trying through that, but once again they said they needed more info...and I haven't heard back from them, so I am guessing that it's also gonna be a "no go."

Thanks for the quick replies!

That is a really interesting spot to put that field. It is the % of ownership of the company, I think it was just laziness they threw it at the end of the application like that since that field doesn't appear for all Business Types. (for Sole Props that field doesn't exist) But that makes it confusing.

Unfortunately I believe for SW you can't put your RR number. I think that's one of the programs that verifies that the name on the card matches the name on the account.

Are you applying for the card as a sole proprietor using just your first and last name as the business name and SS number as the EIN ? I sell on eBay as well and have received a few Chase business cards that way with no verification needed

If you are applying as a Sole Proprietor for yourself, then make the business name the exact same as your name and then you don't need any further documentation for the business name problem. If you enter something like "leebee editing" or "leebee consulting" then they're going to want a DBA or other business name documentation to validate the identity. But if you use your own name as the business then there's nothing else to validate.

I should probably quickly throw those funds into a 529 College Savings Plan since I believe you can use those funds to pay for private school.

You'll have to check with your 529 to see if you get any tax benefits from using 529 funds to pay for private school tuition K-12, or if you'll face penalties for withdrawals for nonqualified expenses. Since the original intent of 529 plans was to save for higher education purposes, some states that give tax deductions for 529 contributions still have that language in their laws. I know in CO that it remains that 529 funds can only be used for higher education purposes, and other withdrawals would be assessed a penalty.

So for my SPG Personal I get an offer to generate a link but get an error when trying to do it. Did you get a link but it just didn't offer the card family options? Not sure if it's a temporary problem or the real error is offering the link in the first place. :)

I checked last week when the Bonvoy Biz was added to to RAF. My account with the SPG cards had options to generate links for the Biz and Brilliant, but not the old personal card.

Oh Marriott, thank you for being a sponsor of the Oscars so everyone could see one of the worst commercials ever. That poor girl that had to say bonvoy instead of checkmate. :sad2: And the couple on the beach. It's amazing that they think that commercial will get people to sign up for their rewards program.

Bonzai...
Bonvoy
Bonzai...
Bonvoooy

That commercial was cringeworthy.

And you forgot

Bonboy
Bonjoy
Bonbon
Bon Jovi!

I’m going to expect reception to greet me with “Bonvoy!” now. Not good.

Regarding the $200 AA Citibiz statement credit . . . I bought a gift card. Will the purchase count toward MSR even though I will get a credit for it?

I guess check again. I tried from the web this time and I got a link and it shows the Brilliant and Biz just like my Biz link does. There was either a glitch this morning or an error with doing it from the app.
