I'm hoping that since I'll enter Epcot through International Gateway that I won't even notice the walls unless I go to MK by monorail. I can get to the Land by cutting diagonally up the path that has all the rose bushes. Although what is the Starbucks situation? Is it still open or relocated? I have Starbucks gift cards and that is part of my budget next trip.

I love having the lounge! Someone mentioned changes, maybe @wendow, but I haven't heard what they are? The only changes I've seen were some replaced furniture - the deep chairs disappeared shortly after they opened. I had to sort of roll to get out of them like I have to with my beach sand chairs - it's my knees, not my overall weight and condition.

I felt they were a bit stingy with the snacks and I read they used to offer more and more frequently. Since were new and didn’t experience the lounge before aug, this could be incorrect info. Also read that they closed a lounge in another park?? Can’t remember the details.

You're nicer than me to care, tbh. We buy what we want with our money, other opinions be damned. You spent the money for the benefit of your family - don't hide it, be proud of it. If you are taking care of your family, paying your bills, not asking for handouts then no one should have any opinions on how you earn and spend your money.

I appreciate your wise words and you are correct. I’ve never asked for money from my mom in my adult life. I should not have to hide this. I just don’t want to hear the constant nagging about it. My Plat fee finally posted and I called for a retention offer. I offered $200 for $3k in spend. Maybe I’ll keep it one more year???

Eh... it’s not a good offer, but it’s not totally bad. $200 offsets the AF after you consider the $200 airline credits, $200 Uber credits and $100 Saks credits against the $550 AF. Do you feel like you get any value from better Amex Offers on that card, ability to refer for 15k MR, Gold status at Hilton and Marriott, use of Centurion or Escape Lounges? I know you have problems using up the Uber credit every month and Amex has made the airline credit harder to use. Would you rather have a 20k MR version of the offer? They should be able to offer it to you for the same spend if you ask and say you’d value the points more than the statement credit. Try again closer to your 30 days deadline to cancel.

Personally, if I were say at 3/24 or lower, and I didn’t get a better offer, I’d go ahead (set up a Schwab account first) and apply for the Schwab Plat for 60k MR/$5k MSR, then cancel the vanilla Plat. I guess you could also cancel your Plat first and then apply for another Plat variety during triple dip season, but that cancelation may raise your risk of a pop up. I don’t know if I’d burn my last 4/24 slot on churning Plats for only 60k MR. Depends where you are with your Chase cards.

A few quick questions for you now:
1) Did that upgrade come via snail mail, email, or did you see it in the app or somewhere else?
2) What is the upgrade offer? Are there bonus points and is it for a certain MSR or just make 1 purchase?

*DH just had SUB post today for CSP (yay) 65k UR.

*So after DH SUB posted he coincidentally received an email today offering 5000RR bonus after 1 purchase if he upgrades his Plus to Priority. It states he would receive a letter in the mail after accepting the offer letting him know about the new AF etc., but no clear indication of when that AF would occur after taking the offer.

My plan was to cancel both our Plus cards next August when our AF hits so we can churn them in the future. I’ll take their 5000RR if I DON’T have to pay the AF before August. If I have to pay it now (or soon) I don’t think 5000RR is worth $149 on a card I don’t intend to keep.

I’d take the offer. The way I look at the difference is it’s higher bonus when the anniversary year hits plus the $75 credit. Those outweigh the difference in af costs. The upgrade boarding is a plus.

They want to see their grand-daughter perform in the CP - who wouldn't?? - SO, they are not Disney fans but they are going. They don't know we bought in to DVC. My mom is super frugal and thinks DVC is a horrible, horrible investment cause all 'timeshares' are bad. I don't want her to know we bought in. I'm keeping it a secret so I think I will have to forgo the dvc lounge this trip I'm so sad about that. We loved hanging out there in Aug. It was just a lovely addition to our Epcot day!

I would tell your parents only Bc it’s better to come out now than during your trip. You need a vacation each year and if you are going to Disney anyways it’s less cost for you. Your family loves it and that’s what matters. Take them up to the lounge my parents enjoyed the break. They still don’t get why we bought but like I told them it’s my money and decision and I’m happy with it. Plus after they stayed in the 2 bedroom with us now they want to come back. Told them what the cost would be if we paid cash and then the lightbulbs went off as to how much we saved by using points vs paying cash.

Feeling sad for you on this one. I was lucky and found it on my Gold (which also has some weird spend $1K get an extra 1.5K MRs deal on it that I can actually use). DH wasn't so lucky and didn't find it on a single one of his handful of AMEX cards.

Sigh. Nothing on any of my cards or my DH's. Would have really liked that one!

When it first opened the snacks were out by the drinks......but of course you had those who would grab them all and leave....so they started having the cast members walk around offering them...ever so often

If you didn’t grab the 80k SW Biz Performance offer, sadly, it is now down to 70k for $5k MSR and still no support links. Hope you grabbed it yesterday if you wanting the 80k offer.

I had made a totally logical decision to forego the CP for 2020 because we have a big international trip planned, and not a lot of time for domestic travel. So I thought I would concentrate on URs and MRs for next year (which I would transfer to whichever airline made sense if we needed them), and then go for the CP at the end of 2020 (for 21-22). Then I find out that my brother is getting married (for the second time) and the weding is going to be in CA in the middle of the summer. So I need to get all 4 of us out there during peak travel season, and SW is generally the best way for us to get from here to there. All of a sudden, my CP decision seemed like a mistake. Thank goodness this all happened while the 80k offer was still live (or I would have been even more annoyed).

Since I just got a biz card, we need to do this on DH's account, so we can't do it until 2 years after he got his last personal bonus - 1/10 or so.

10/15 - SW Biz (80k)
1/10 - SW Personal (60K? Who knows what the offer will be then)

Other wrinkle is that I kinda still want to get him an amex platinum sometime in the same timeframe - not sure if it will be biz or personal. Scary MSR, but I want to continue to build MRs too (I want ALL THE POINTS). I'm thinking if I apply for that right around the same time as the SW personal, should be ok, right?

Oh my goodness, I am so far behind lately! Plugging away at a CIP MSR for DH and AA Biz MSR for myself.

I do have a fun announcement....DD auditioned late Sept for her DCP to be in entertainment and yesterday she got the email offering her the position!!!!!!!!!!!! She moves down in January. So exciting!

I also just did something I have never in all my Disney years done before....paid rack rate for a resort. GASP!!!! I had booked CSR last minute to go down next week on AP rate. But, I kept checking for a value resort and finally saw POP at rack rate and it is still a tad cheaper than CSR was and no internal bus and I will have Skyliner access...so it makes sense. Well, at least I am paying with discounted gift cards.

This is a good thought! At the member lounge, they look you up in the system so not sure that’d work but not sure she’d catch on to anything for entering early for the Christmas party. I’ll keep that in mind!

Ugh, looks like I may be filing a dispute with Chase. I ordered a custom saddle pad from a girl for DH to show his horse in on August 27. I didn't receive it in all this time but figured she was making it. I sent her a facebook message last Monday to ask her when I could expect to receive the pad and she said "I'm hoping today." Didn't receive it. I sent her another message Monday of this week asking her if she had tracking on it and she didn't respond. So I sent her another message just now to tell her we were leaving for the horse show tomorrow afternoon and did she know where the pad was. She responded "I don't have it yet, can I send you something else to use at the show?" What do you mean you don't have it yet? You told me I could expect to receive it ten days ago, and now you don't even have it yet?? I'm waiting to hear what DH wants to do since he's currently on a flight, but now that we're showing his horse this weekend we may end up selling the horse while we're at the show, in which case I won't need the saddle pad anymore.

Finally got the email to add someone to my Platinum account and get 5,000 MRs. Now I can get my GE! It says limit 20,000 MR. I take it that means I can add both my kids and get 5,000 MRs for each?
