Woohoo, just got the best of all possible options- DH got instant approval on Hilton Surpass and when I went for the instant card number it wouldn't work so I got the $60 statement credit! Fine with me since I haven't even put the first charge on his new CIP yet, so I'm currently working on about 10k worth of MSR. Really excited to have this card!

London hotels suck. Cash or points doesn’t matter. You get a shoebox to sleep in and it either wipes out your bank account or points balance. Take your pick.
:rotfl: I will just be happy it's not cash OOP this time around. Last time my friend and I stayed at the Comfort Inn Hyde Park... $1900 for 10 days during low season.

We got to move to this room for the last 4 nights:

I can't even find a picture of our first room. I'm sure I have them at home.

But it was pretty central.

What is the maximum number of Chase cards people have successfully had open at once?

I may want United Club access next year 😂
Have 9 at the moment, only 6 opened in the last 2 years. I think I've seen 11 or 12 on r/churning... but I believe they were at it for a few years. I'm not sure if I would want 12 open in the last 2 years :scared:

Catching up - got back Saturday night from a week at Disney. Me, DS20 and DD18. Stayed at BWV again. Love it there. Trip was good - lots of rain though. Did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour - of course it rained the entire time. But was very interesting.

Also did a DVC Tour. Because we were staying at BWV we got $150 in Disney Gift Cards plus 4 Anytime Fast Passes (not good on the newer rides). Very low key and easy. Of course kids thought I should buy - they liked the look of the new Riveria. Would be nice but not possible with 2 kids in college and so easy to rent points form a friend right now.

Came home to DH's CIP#3 in the mail. Paid some tuition and the spend is done on that card. Also had DH's AA Citi Business #1 in the mail. Will either use for Mortgage or Tuition.

I applied for the CIP for DS20 yesterday. He was approved today!! Going to pay more tuition with that and that will be done. Going to then transfer his points to my CSR and give him $850 in cash. That will make his car payments for 8 months while he is at college, so that will be nice. He is going to try and get a job at college but I want school to be the 1st priority so his car payments will be one less thing to worry about.

DH got a AMEX Mailer and Email for Delta 70,000 points. In the past he has gotten the pop up. Not sure if the mailer will bypass that or not.

I just want to thank everyone for this forum. So much great info. If I hadn't found this forum I would still just be churning my SW Cards every 2 years and thinking I am really cool doing that. Have come a long way since then and am loving the extra traveling we get to do. Although I think the kids are getting a bit too used to it. They jokingly said that next year they only get to go on 2 vacations (Vegas and Cruise). They are so mistreated. Although they don't know about the trip to Aruba I have booked for January while they are on winter break. Very happy that both kids still love traveling with us and continue as long as I can.

Playing around with the Marriotts in London again... put in the Sat-Thurs that runs over Memorial Day and got one place that came up as $3800 USD for 5 nights :faint:

London is crazy expensive and I always struggle to choose a place.

I'll counter and say we've had some lovely rooms in great hotels, but I won't argue that it didn't wipe out our bank account every time. I wish I wasn't quite so picky about hotels...

Hyatt has a property there and it looks nice, so I kept booking it with points then canceling because I wanted to stay in Mayfair.

@SouthFayetteFan I went back and pulled up my voucher-not-a-voucher for Universal tickets I bought with URs back in March. Lead Traveler was listed with my first and last name. Swiping a cc that had the last name match as mentioned earlier sounds familiar. The details on my voucher-not-a-voucher (I'm ticked UR calls it a voucher and yet screams at you THIS IS NOT A VOUCHER!!) are as follows. (Also, no wonder I was nervous picking up my ticket. Caps? Red letters? Multiple exclamation marks? WTH wrote this thing?!). Sapphire Falls concierge desk was definitely able to handle this for me, I didn't have to do it at the park machines.

YOUR TICKET ORDER WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP 48 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE DATE.** **THIS IS NOT A VOUCHER!! WILL CALL KIOSK TICKET PICKUP REQUIRED!!** (1) At the entrance of the Universal Orlando theme parks, look to your right for the Will Call Kiosks. (2) At the kiosk machine, you must swipe a credit card matching the Customer's Last Name listed on this confirmation page for identity verification only. (3) When the kiosk asks for a phone number, enter the first seven numbers printed in the Supplier Reference Number field. (4) When the kiosk asks for a confirmation #, enter the Supplier Reference Number as printed above and include the suffix beginning with –E.
If this is similar to yours I concur that if you can get your sister a card in her maiden name then you should be good to go. Amex sounds like the best bet for that since they're not too into SSNs for the first few months anyway...

No sorry, I bought 2000 for $20.99 x 3 because the bonus for meeting my second goal was higher than $2.97. I just will kick myself if they run another promo later in the day.

I can't imagine they'd run a promo this week after having them on "sale" for almost a week. I do agree about it still making since in corration to the 2nd bonus. I have 20 that I still need to cash out so I'll buy some more at some point. I do think if my 2nd bonus stays high I'll buy some each day while at wdw next week to keep my streaks going. Though being able to more easily meet my cip msr is more important.

As far as authorized drivers..... I thought that no companies were allowing spouses on for free anymore? So Enterprise does??? ETA wow this is good info- I can't believe I forgot this.... but.... do both spouses have to be there at pickup to drive?
Enterprise allows second driver (spouse) for no fee. National has no fee if you are an Emerald member (Executive level is free with CSR) and second driver has the same address. Those are the two I stick with for that reason. The issue was booking through UR/Expedia, if those free driver policies still apply. For Enterprise, yes. I had no issue with National a year ago, but I will probably message them to make sure as well. I think all my rentals will be Enterprise this trip though.

I think for most the second driver does need to be at the counter/pick up to show valid license.

Congrats! I'm kind of interested in going for this card too (almost done with AA MSR and then I got nothing..). I'm not understanding why you got the $60 statement credit?? IS that part of the bonus or just cause the instant number didn't work?

I thought the $450 in fees were pretty steep.

It depends on where you're going. I just paid $1677.40 for our 2 one way award tickets to EDI (connecting through LHR) for next year. That, and the 200,000 Avios (via URs and MRs) was painful! Worth it to me but painful.

I've stayed at a lovely small hotel-The Lime Tree Hotel and while it clearly isn't a Marriott, it was fairly budget friendly (for London) and in an awesome location-near Victoria Station and the Victoria bus station. It was perfect for a week.

ETA-when we were there they served free breakfast and Sainsbury's (or Tesco) was around the corner. It's a grocery store so a quick lunch or dinner could be grabbed. There's also a pub and a pizza place around the corner. Can you tell I'm food focused, lol!

I don't know too much about earning AA miles other than MRs can transfer somehow and United miles.

I'm certainly not an expert at getting to Japan but I want to stress that MRs DO NOT transfer to AA! I don't want anyone to go into the Amex sphere to obtain AA miles for they will be disappointed!!! In the One world alliance you can transfer to Qantas and Avios but NOT directly to AA.

ANA is a partner as well (*Alliance).

I'm a big big proponent of MRs (see above) but they can't go straight to AA.

I haven’t yet seen anywhere to put “names on tickets”. It’s just a confirmation email right now. Did you do this with URs?

@Artygal90 - did you put names on tickets?

Last year I purchased 6 Universal tickets using URs and had no trouble redeeming the forms for tickets at the ticket desk at RPR. Unfortunately I am a little fuzzy on recalling the details, but I do remember that it was super simple to get the tickets (I was a little stressed because we were checking in and then heading right to the park). I don't recall if the person at the ticket counter checked my ID or not and I also don't recall how our names ended up on our tickets but I'm pretty sure that somehow they did.
