I lost another cat & I'm worried about DS

I know that it seems trivial with everything going on but this has been very hard on our family. My 16 yo Mr. Red died two weeks ago and his brother White Sox died on Tues. night. My 12 yo DS has had to deal with so much loss in 12 days. His great grandmother and 2 cats who were there even before him. He also had a fish die in that time. This is all just 1 year after my mother who was his day care provider since birth passed away. Today he was so full of questions about the war and I could see that he is very bothered by that, too. I think I might call the school and let them know and to keep an eye on him. Thank you for letting me cry on your shoulders.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss that your family has suffered. I think calling the school and making them aware of the situation is a great idea. You never know if it will carry over to his school work and having them know what's going on will help them understand and deal with the situation properly. I am so sorry about your fur-babies. Hope your son is feeling better, maybe a trip to the pound to adopt another kitty would help? Take care.

I agree with CatsRule. ALthough a pet can never be replaced, it sure helped me handle Black Kitty's death better when we got Princess Diamond.

Actually, adoption of another kitty isn't really an option right now. We do make trips to our local shelter (a wonderful no kill shelter) but it's to donate supplies and make memorial contributions. I have 6 other cats and they are all elderly(17,17,16, 13,13 and 10). They would not accept another cat very easily right now. We have 2 terripins also. It is just so hard to lose furbabies, they are so much a part of our lives.

This is hardly trivial, this is so much a part of your son's life. My son has lost both his grandparents and or 17 year old cat (his "brother") in less than a year. With every one I just died inside for him, but somehow he not only survived it, he got ME through them.

I so agree with Minnie56, cry with him, let him TALK and listen to everything he says. He'll be okay as long as his Mom supports him and holds onto him.

I know how hard this is. Hang in there.
