My husband come home late last night from playing poker (I have no problem at all with that - he waits until our 1 year old is asleep before he goes and if I asked him not to go he wouldnt). I was already asleep when he got home. I got up this morning and noticed a card and a box on the stove that had not been there the night before. I of course looked at them - it was my Christmas card and a boxed CD set that I had asked for (Garth Brooks). Clearly he brought my present and card in from the car and just forgot to put them away. Since I knew he would say something when he realized what he had done, I asked him why he had left my Christmas card on the stove. Of course he immediately realized what he had done. He asked if I had seen what was under it and I said "no, as soon as I realized that the card was mine I turned it over. I figured the box was mine too and I didnt want to see what it was". So of course I lied to him, but what else could I do? I knew it would disappoint him greatly if he knew his surprise was ruined. Did I do the right thing?

I told him. I also know he went out and bought me a new present so that I would still be surprised.
So, while I don't think there is anything wrong with that little white lie, you may want to rethink it!!!
