I lied to my husband this morning

DH just got up (in his defense he works at night and usually goes to bed around 3:30 a.m. and gets up around 10 or so). He called me and said "are you SURE you didnt see anything this morning?". And I said "no, as soon as I realized that was my card I knew that must be my gift and I didnt want to look". He REALLY wants to believe me.

If you're smart, that is one little secret that should go to the grave with you. You know he would be disappointed if he found out you saw the present. There is nothing to be gained by letting him know you saw it. Even after Christmas, I think you shouldn't say anything to him. It might cause hurt feelings.

The right thing was not to peek, but since you did, then the lie was a nice way to keep his secret.

Years ago before we were married, I told my husband, "lying is only ok when it's about presents." It's a rule we stick to. You did just fine!
