It happened this morning but I'm still upset about it. She was sitting up on the changing table and I had my hand on her leg because I know that she's a wiggle worm. So I had my hand on her leg and turned my head to see where something was. Before I could even react she had tipped over the edge and was almost to the floor when I tightened my grip and caught her. I honestly think that if she had hit the floor in the position that she was in she would have broken her neck. Fortunately, she just banged her head a little on the front of the table and I cried harder than she did.

I let out such a terrible scream when I realized she was falling that I scared my older dd half to death. She told me later on that she hopes she never has to hear me scream like that ever again, she said it made her cold. :sad2:

I can't believe how careless I was. Most days I'm a pretty good Mom, today was not one of those days. Stupid, stupid mommy, I should have been more careful.

Don't be too hard on yourself....accidents happen. :grouphug:

yeah, those moments give up gray hairs. I accidently clipped a piece of skin when I trimmed a fingernail of Kelsea. She cried for a second, I didn't stop for a lot longer.

Aw...you are really beating yourself up! It was an accident, that is why they are called that. No matter how hard you try, these things will happen every now and again. It is inevitable. It doesn't make you less than, it makes you human. Sounds like you are a great mom!

{{{HUGS}}}

Don't give yourself such a hard time. My five month DD is a wiggle worm too and very strong. I can totally see how that could happen. Glad she's okay and hope you start feeling better really soon. :grouphug:

Aw, don't worry! Thankfully, she's fine. It could've been much worse, so relax. :grouphug:

:grouphug:

Try not to beat yourself up over it. When my dd was about 2, I accidently knocked her down a short flight of stairs. I think I felt worse than she did. Accidents happen and it's not like you did it on purpose.

Try not to dwell on it. These things happen. We are all human. When DD was a baby, I had her sitting in one of those seats on wheels in my bedroom while I got ready for work. She had never moved it. I didn't think she could. I went out to the kitchen to grab something and I heard a crash. She had followed me out and rolled it down the stairs. She was lying in a heap at the bottom of the stairs crying. It scared me so bad. She was okay, but all I could think about for days was what could have happened. I immediately got rid of the seat. Since then, I've heard of babies breaking their necks doing exactly what she did.

We try to be so careful, but things happen. Thank goodness babies are made of rubber so they bounce!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Unfortunantly it wont be the last time your sweetheart is hurt or almost hurt. It doesn't get any easier to see it happen. You are a good mom because you care. (((HUG))) I will never forget the morning I got up, picked up 2 month DD out of her crib, and started down the stairs to make breakfast for my family. My blood sugar was low and I blacked out while taking the second step that is angled at the top of the stairs. I couldn't see a thing and remember hearing her cry. I had my arms out to the side trying to keep her from rolling past me (I have no idea how she got behind me since I was holding her in front with one arm as I reached for the handrail with the other.) My foot found the iron railing half way down & we stopped. I heard my DH racing from the other room and I was then able to focus and see that she was lying on the step behind me. That was one of the scariest moments in my life! Thank God there was nothing wrong with her.

Accidents happen, it's okay for Mommies to have an accident now and again. That's a part of parenting, you learn from it and 20 years later, you can laugh about it. Babies are major wiggle worms and it's hard to keep them in one spot sometimes. No matter how hard you try, an accident will always happen.

When DS was a baby he had terrible colic, which we found out later was from a milk protein allergy. Anyway, after a hard night, I gave him a warm bath and he finally fell asleep. Since he was squirming in his sleep, I stripped off both of our shirts and laid him on top of me belly to belly. When he calmed down and started snoring, I fell into a dead sleep. So dead, that I rolled over on the bed, and rolled him right onto the concrete floor. I cried, he screamed, and he was alright in a bit. We all have those moments, you aren't a bad mommy-- you're just human.

Sometimes it's very difficult to be a Mommy, huh? {{{HUGS}}} sweetie. Your baby is alright, that's all that matters today, don't you think?

It's very frightening when things like that happen. My oldest rolled off the changing table once. She was fine, but after that I started changing her on the floor. Accidents happen to all parents, and it stays with you for a long time. She's OK, and that's what matters.

Accidents do happen no matter how hard we try to prevent them. Don't be too hard on yourself. Teagan is fine and you will be too.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I feel better this morning and I can be sure it won't happen again. At least not this particular accident, something else I'm sure but not rolling off the table.

1st of all, you did not LET her fall off. You prevented her from falling. You had your hand on her.

I can't count how many times I have seen woman in public restrooms put their infant on the changing table, then walk across to wet a cloth, or get a paper towel.

Bravo mom for not letting her get hurt! That is what you should be bragging about! :sunny:

We all have those days - that's what makes us Mommies. I clipped DS nails with the clippers and just last week, he wriggled off DH's lap and got a bloody nose. We are definitely much more affected that the kids are.

Hope your days gets better. :grouphug:

:grouphug: she's ok and your going to be ok. Accidents happen.

DD was about 18 months and she climbed up on the couch. I remember this all in slow motion. I went to get her cause she started walking to the edge. She fell and hit her chin on the coffee table. She bit her tongue really bad. It was ok, I cried a lot harder than she did.
