After 3 hours of sleep I was up and ready to go on the morning of departure. Only problem is our flight wasn't untill 6:45 p.m. I never can sleep the night before a trip.
We had arranged a late check out from the hotel so we had a few hours to kill. Around 11 we walked to the near by Denny's for lunch. Denny's isn't my favorite but it was close and I had a 20% off coupon.

I love a discount.
We stretched out lunch as long as possible then went back to the hotel to check out and arrange transportation to the hotel. We checked out at 2 but still had over 4 hours so we spent some time doing a little research in the hotel's business center.
I swear time was going by slower than usual that day.
As we entered the International terminal, I start to feel the excitment slowly building...but it still feel unreal to me. When the lady at the check in counter asked for our passports ...I must admit, a little bit of a chill ran down my spine.
I've waited over 20 years for someone to pop that question! I try to contain my excitment and look non-chalaunt as I hand my passport over....considering the cheshire cat grin on my face, I don't think it worked.
Actually, I think my face is a combo of the cheshire cat and Sheldon Cooper's fake smile....
Baggage dropped off and boarding tickets in hand we're on the way to securtiy....but I decide to make a little detour because I see a currency exchange counter and I think it would be good to do that before the flight so I'm not arriving in London without any local currency.
The lady at the counter makes it sound like an amazing deal....but then I vaguely remember reading NOT to use them in my Rick Steeves travel guides, and to use ATM's for the best exchange rate. I'm so glad I remembered that because after double checking I realize we would have lost $150!
We try to gracefully move on but the lady doesn't want to take no for an answer....after managing to decline without being rude we walk away and I start thinking of the money changers at the temple.
Standing in line for our security check and frisking I spy a line of flight attendants and pilots comming our way, that make my jaw drop.
They are in a group of about 12 and I try to check them out without being obvious..
The women are in tan suits pinstriped and trimmed to perfection in deep red...even their shoes were piped in red to perfection. Their hair was in a french twist topped by a cap with a gauzy veil. It was as if they were working for Magic Carpet airlines. If Jasmine were a stewerdess...this is how she'd look.
Each one of them is gorgeous and look like they stepped out of a United Nation's most beautiful people magazine. Even the piolts were drop dead gorgeous....not that I noticed them much.
All I could think was....keep your tongue from hanging out and get the camera...but since we were almost to security I couldn't get the camera out....I don't think I was able to keep my chin off the ground either. After security I did manage to snap a couple of pics...
They work for United Emirates which had just started flying out of Seattle..
They made flying seem like a glamours thing and when I looked down at my comfy grey tack suit I felt a little like a bag lady in comparison.
After stalking....following the UEA crew we found our gate and sat down to wait for 2 hours.
