is it worth bringing your own mug? I was thinking a large 32-48oz mug.. just to save repeat visits to the station, and for the movie theatre

Worth bringing? or more last minute futzing?

John

I always bring a mug...or buy one (Tervis tumblers make great souvenirs8-))! But lately the DVC people have been giving out tervis-like mugs which are great to use at the soda station, so I don't bring mine anymore.

We don't bring one because we don't drink soda when we are out and about. I do usually bring a water bottle though because I drink a lot of water. No one else in my family wants to deal with the hassle.

I always bring an insulated mug for myself and sometimes my family members. If I forget someones they always try to steal mine or end up buying one on the ship. In my opinion a must have and don't forget to take it with you to castaway Cay. Keeps some ice in your drink! I even dump my pina colata into it so it doesn't melt so fast!

My family is too lazy to carry them, though we often bring them with the best of intentions! They typically end up sitting in the stateroom and taking up luggage space.

I'm a huge diet coke drinker. Well worth it to me. Don't forget to bring some dish soap!

We usually bring our Tervis mugs and fill them up with cold or hot drinks for the movies/shows. But we recently purchased a few Hydroflasks that have even better insulation and will be using those going forward.

I'm a big soda drinker but I also love collected the Disney Tervis, so that is always my first stop when the stores open.

I brought one this last cruise because I'm a big soda drinker and make lots of trips...the mug never left the stateroom. I guess it really wasn't that important to me after all

I bring one as I found if I don't, I end up not drinking enough and getting dehydrated. I keep it filled with water or seltzer and just keep it with me. Works for me.

Don't forget you can not fill them directly from fill station. If you forget (although there is a sign to remind you), please don't be offended when someone points out to you that you are to use a new disposable cup to transfer to your mug for sanitary reasons. :drinking:

No worries, if I use the drink stations I fill from a paper cup, but in general I buy cans of seltzer and bottled water onboard and use those to fill my cup.

We didn't carry them around, but were happy to have them in the room after we settled in for the night, especially with a two year old who was used to drinking a lot of water through the night. I will probably pack them on our next cruise.

You know what I do often?

Answer the question.

IOW's

Yes.

Bring it.

You, as a fluid consumer, will not regret it.
In fact, you need the container, as most do, so no worries.

You will observe, once aboard, you are not alone.

Everyone aboard has some sort of container to "contain" their beverage.

You will be amongst friends.

Enjoy your Beverage filled sailing. As most of us do regardless of form.

Smooth seas to you

I know a lot of people do this but I feel like I am on vacation and have enough hassle with mugs at wdw and there is no way I'm dealing with mugs on a cruise. What a pain.

We bring a mug, but only use it about half the time. If we're staying away from the room for a long time, we don't want the (very minor!) hassle of carrying the mug around for a long time after it's empty. But, sometimes it's nice to have, especially when making a coke float :)

Nope - on DCL we don't bring our own cups for cold drinks - we do bring coffee mugs though because the little cups you get through room service are not enough and cool too quickly.

We do bring the paper carry trays from Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds though - that way, we're not limited to just one cup - one person can go and get sodas for all 3 of us and carry them back. We'll often get a 4th so that is someone is extra thirsty, there's an extra one available. Works well for bringing soda to the theatre or back to the cabin.

I won't use my own cup for soda because by the time you pour it into a paper cup, and then into your own cup, there is no carbonation left.
