Who has gone on Splash Mountain during colder weather? Have you gotten soaked and did your clothes take forever to dry? What did you wear? We are going in early January. We have always been to WDW in very hot weather and we LOVE Splash Mountain. Any suggestions????? :jumping3:

I read that Splash has temperature sensors..if it'd cold not as much water comes out..the opposite happens when it's hot!
I really hope this is true because we are going late Nov/early Dec. :cold:

We have really never had a problem getting too cold/wet in winter. We always bring extra sweatshirts/jackets, then change out of the wet one (IF it gets wet--usually doesn't) into the dry one. OR just TAKE OFF the sweatshirt (if no extras!) so we have something warm and cozy to put on over the damp clothes. We have never gotten too wet or soaked, and we ride Splash a lot! Now Kali over at AK...THAT is another story!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Although I have no proof, it seems like they must turn down the squirt factor during the winter. I went this summer and was pretty wet (fine by me, it was HOT), but the last few years I've been in January, I didn't get more than a fine mist of water.
Kali on the other hand, is a bathtub all year long.

We went on Splash Mountain in January, and I'd have to agree with everyone else - I don't think we got as wet as we did in the spring. Also, it wasn't cold, so being a bit wet wasn't an issue. It's also not nearly as humid, so you dry out faster.

We have stroller aged kids, so we haul a diaper bag full of stuff with us. We go to DL in December. One year I was determined to ride Grizzly River Run, like Kali.

There was no wait since most folks were not going to brave it in the cold. They were actually sending out empty rafts. I lucked out and rode with a family that showed me how to keep my feet from getting wet. The family warned me that the family member I was sitting next to ALWAYS got drenched (that is why they were not sitting with her).

I brought a spare shirt and pants and kept them on the bottom of the stroller. Thank goodness I did, because I was SOAKED. My husband was laughing at me when I got off. One side of my hair was even drenched. I changed into my spare clothes at the first bathroom I came to. I didn't think to bring a spare pair of panties. I got so wet my underwear was even soaked. But with the rest of my clothes being dry.. I was able to live with the wet undies.

It was fun and I was glad I did it.

Just got back when it was cold, and the water spraying was at a minimum. When we went in October two years ago and it was hot, we got soaked.

We went last December and rode Splash Mountain it was fun and yes the weather was cool(cold for me) and we were at the MVMCP. We went and rode it got soaked, but it was awsome we had so much fun. The main part that got soaked was our butts, there was a lake in the seat :rotfl2:. When we got off the ride we went and ducted in to Pacos Bills for Hot Coco (if your going to do this plan on lots of Hot Coco) But it was all good. Hope you have fun :earsboy:

If it gets really cold outside, they will usually put big heaters and blowers up around the outside of the ride. At least the couple of times we have been by there in the colder times. I am not sure if this always happens but it seems that Disney is trying to warm some of the people up.

Bring one of those cheap plastic poncho's (2 for $1 at Dollar Tree). They will keep you mostly dry on Splash Mountain. I have seen the portable blowing heaters at the exit of Kali in January. You'll also find the shivering dripping wet people standing in front of them. :cold:

I agree with BonnieA - wear a poncho!

I was the only one in my family that wore one last December and I was the only one that wasn't shivering afterwards!!

I was going to say, be sure to bring paper towels with you to wipe your seat before you sit down. The seats obviously get really wet if there aren't two people in the row every time. Last time we went in January, DD sat in the seat that had been empty on the previous ride, and though we didn't get very wet from the spray, DD complained when we got off that her bottom was wet. When we looked, sure enough, it was soaked! She obviously sat in a puddle, because she wasn't wet anywhere else. We had to buy her a pair of sweatpants and a 6-pack of Princess panties (can't buy just one pair!) to change into so she wouldn't be miserable the rest of the night!

I've been on it in December and barely got wet...just a little damp around the edges. My friend and I squished together as we went down and only had a few decent sized drops land on us. No soaking!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Thanks to all who posted. Our whole family really loves this ride. It has always felt great in the heat. Now we know that we can go on it in the cooler weather and still have a BLAST! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

One strange/fun thing about January in Florida is you can have warm/really nice days as well as cold.
On one of those warm days my husband, me, and my brother rode splash over and over and over all by ourselves, during Spectro, sitting in the front rows. We got SOAKED, top to bottom. . . SATURATED.
But, we had so much fun that now that I'm thinking about it I don't remember being unbearably uncomfortable or freezing. . . even though we were still well soaked when we returned to our resort.

We seem to get the wettest after the BIG DROP and we come around the bend where all the boats come to a stop by the small water fall. I seem to always set on the wrong side of the boat. In December its still cold water no matter what the temp is. :teeth:
