I know longer believe in our court system.
I used to believe the the rich and famous got off without paying for crimes but now I think different.

The day a mother that kills her child walks free is the day that makes me feel our system is broken.

Waiting for this "mother" to stand at the gates......

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here, what do YOU think is broken? The jury came to the conclusion based on the evidence provided (or lack thereof).

The prosecution failed to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Case killed her daughter. It's the prosecution that you should be upset with. They did not do their job.

What would you have done differently? How would you have gotten the conviction?

I simply don't think things are as black and white as people believe. I'm reading all these ugly presumptions about the jurors and unless they are on the jury they just don't know.

Sitting on a jury is hard alot harder than so many seem to understand. It's not about gut feelings or what is inferred from the media. It simply about the facts and nothing else. The burden of proof was not brought completely from the prosecution. It was all on them and they didn't close the deal.

The whole loony family should have been on trial for that little girl. The whole family did the precious girl wrong and it's on the entire family that this little girl is gone.

Can you tell me how she wasn't found guilty of child neglect for not reporting her own daughter missing for nearly a month. I think the prosecution did there job quite well, You can lead the horse to water but can't make them drink,

Honestly, this verdict makes me believe in the justice system even more. It would have been so much easier for those jurors to find her guilty but they didn't. They followed the rules and came to the only conclusion they could.

no i can't tell you because I wasn't there. Was neglect one of the charges brought against her? I wasn't following closely.

I also don't believe that "not reporting someone missing" is a crime. It's impossible to fathom why someone would not but it's not a crime.

How did the follow the rules? The judge gave them the defintion of Child neglect and they didn't listen, not reporting your child missing for 30 day is the defention of child neglect plain and simple

Unfortuantely, she was not charged with child neglact-she was charged with child abuse which has a totally different legal meaning and standrd of evidence. She was found guilty on the charges of lying in the case.

I do believe she did it
I do not believe the prosecution proved first/second degree murder (premediated) within the legal requirement

I guess the system did work.

Yes.

yup if you wanna kill your kid you can go to Flordia and get off scott free

What evidence was there that Casey ACTUALLY killed Caylee? There was nothing concrete. The prosecution pieced together their case, defense shot holes in it, and the jury had to make the decision. Was I surprised at the verdict? Of course! But in looking at the facts, what proof was there?

It's ALWAYS been flawed. I've never had faith in it. Today is just one MORE proof.

Reasonable doubt?

I doubt that there was ANY reasoning involved.:headache::headache:

I have to aqree that the system did work. We might not like how it worked, but it did. The jurors listened to the evidence and found that the state had not proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Not guilty is not the same as innocent.

Don't be too quick to judge the jurors. I was on a jury for a case of sexual assault against a minor. :sad1: Did we all think the guy was guilty? Absolutely. Could the prosecution prove it? Nope. So he was found not guilty.

I guarantee that some of the jurors (if not all) think she's guilty, but if the prosecution doesn't prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, they can't convict her.:confused3

In my opinion our entire legal process has tilted out of whack in regards to legal and socio-economic factors long before this trial. This trial is just a very visible example of an atrocious process.

And before anybody comes along and snipes with the well you don't know what it is like or it's the best out there. Come on. There is so much room for improvement it isn't even funny.

I don't have all the answers. I do think that the system of leaving a decision of such magnitude to 12 ordinary people who are likely untrained in law, science, psychology or anything remotely relevant is highly likely to go wrong - especially when you consider that most of them don't even want to be there to begin with and are highly motivated to get it over so they can get on with their real lives.
