Ok now I know you guys just had a thread on Shrek but I hadn't seen the movie then but recently we rented the movie. I heard it was funny so I watched it, and personally I thought I kind of stunk, now there were funny parts in it I'll admit but the rest of it was kind of lame. I would have to say there was a part that I really enjoyed which was the end when the donkey (he was my favorite character) and everyone else was singing. I thought that was cute but otherwise I didn't think it was great. Somebody tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way?!?!?!?!?!?

omg- i just Shrek the past weekend and loved it so it isn't old news to me!!i thought it was so funny! and there were a bunch of Disney allusions in there, like the Small World and the 7 dwarves, so that was really good too!! :bounce:

stay off the grass shine your shoes wipe your...face!

LOL! :D

i loved it...I dunno sometime when ppl say its really really good yor expectations get really high and then you get disappointed(happened to me afew times!)

and also watch it again..the 1st time I saw it I was a bit on impressed but after the 5th and 6th time i love it!

Hey,

I can see why you guys would say that.
Maybe it just wasnt my style..............................

This movie is really popular with the teen girls in my school. Seems like everyone has shrek parties and they all watch it like every day.....i saw like half an hour of it in school and thought it was ok.....dont know if i'll start planning a party tho...:p

I loved it, and I'm not too big into cartoon movies(I thought Atlantis was terrible, the only other one I like was Toy Story 2 and A Goofy Movie), but I freaking loved Shrek. I bought it on DVD a few days after Christmas, and my 3 closest guy friends all got it for Christmas.

I've never seen the movie, but I've heard so many people talking about how good and funny it was.

I haven't seen it either! One of my friends really liked it, but nobody else has really talked about it. We were gonna watch it in Spanish class before Christmas but we didn't have time.

Shrek is a great movie because it makes fun of all the fairy tales! I thought the movie was sic!
It was very funny and entertaining. It slammed Disney and made you realize life is not a fairy tale.

I thought Shrek was hilarious, as well! But I've seen it too many times so now it's kinda lame. But here's a question....
Everyone knows it's pretty much down to "Shrek" and "Monsters inc." for the first animation oscar. Who do you think should win? At first I was all for Shrek but then I saw Monsters Inc. and it made me want to cry so I'm REALLY torn. What do you think?

I dunno

but I do know that if they would have this award in the 80's and 90's disney would have gotten it almost every year! I want Monsters Inc. to get it b/c that is like Disneys award but Shrek is good too...so i have no clue!

See that's what I thought too...but Disney will probably get every one after this so I was like "Shrek". But I can't get over how cute "Boo" is! She reminds me of my little sister!! So I'm back where I started!

Michelle

LOL! yeah Boo is soo adorable!

so its up to those people...the scary critics and people that vote for the Oscars! the people that give all the movies you've never heard of the win and not the good ones!(well most of the time anyway)

I loved it the first time I saw it, but I saw it for the third time the other day, and it doesn't seem as funny anymore. None of the humour's that sophisticated, things like 'wipe your face' cracked me up the first time, but now it just seems a bit stupid. Most of the jokes in the film seem to appeal to the lowest common denominator, like Shrek making a candle out of his earwax. Maybe its just me, Shrek might be funny and popular, but its not as timeless as most Disney films. I can't see Shrek and its toilet humour still being popular in 65 years time.

I haven't seen Monsters Inc. so I can't really comment on the Oscar competition. My Disney reflex, however, tells me that Monsters should win. :)

As for Shrek making you realise life was not a fairytale, guess that whole politically correct Beauty and the Beast story was lost on some people......
