Sorry about posting this here but I´m getting so nervous about leaving in 2 days and I don´t get any answers on the original forum. Just hoping somebody might have a clue.
"I had booked a standardroom at Sheraton World, thought I read a good review about it, then I read som more and suddenly realized that the nice review was about the towerroom. I´ve read some real bad ratings about the standardrooms and now I´m a bit concerned, I´m leaving Sweden in 2 days and then I won´t have access to the internet but will stay at Sheration 4-7 jan so there is still time to cancel or change the booking. I´ve been reading the entire thread about best/worst experience and my head is just spinning, there are so many almost similar hotelnames and I just cant figure out which one should be most value.
I´ve booked Sheraton standard for 70 dollars per night, right now they want 106 dollars for a towerroom. Should I upgrade or should I cancel and choose someting else.
I picked Sheraton because of the walkingpossibility to Sea World and I want to be on or near International Drive, we´ll be going to Ripleys also, and do some shopping. This will be the ending of our Floridavacation which will begin with staying at the Dolphin for 6 nights and doing Disney. It´s me and my two children 10,12.
Pls need advice.
Annika"

Pls anyone some advice !

I don't know how helpful this will be but I stayed there over 15 years ago and it was very nice. Of course, I have to imagine that they have upgraded a few things since then (I hope!). Hopefully someone with more info will post soon. Did you try posting on the Orlando Hotel & Attraction board? Good luck!

Thank you Ellen !

I did post it first at the Orlando Hotel board but the activity on that board seems to be very low, I still haven´t got any answer.

Annika I just checked the Unofficial Guide. It gives the "garden" three stars and "tower" 3.5 stars. It won't be on the level of the Dolphin, but it should be at least ok. Sheraton has various levels of quality but I don't believe any of them are regarded as dirty or unkempt. The Sheraton's I have stayed in were just fine. Have a great trip:earsboy:

No advice about the hotel, just hoping you have a great trip:D

I haven't stayed at the Sheraton but I did stay at the Fairfield Inn that it right around the corner. The Sheraton looked really nice and it's in a area that there is a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. I'm not sure that I would walk to Universal but it's not very far. Wet and Wild is close but it might be a little cold right now. Good luck, try not to worry. I think that the Sheraton will be fine. We were happy at the Fairfield, this is a link for this hotel http://www.marriott.com/dpp/PropertyPage.asp?MarshaCode=MCOSL

You and your kids are going to have a great time. It all seems so scary right now but it will all work out. It sounds like you have a great plan and for the most part Americans are very friendly and helpful.

Hallo from Sweden we have a trip planning chat at 7PM gmt this evening. If you could join us, you will probably be able to get some more advice about the Sheraton from our British DISers who may have stayed there.

I hope to see you there.

I just wanted to welcome you to the DIS, Annika, and wish you lots of fun (I know you and your two children will ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo) on your very first trip to WDW. So nice to have you visiting America. :wave2:

I too agree with Micca, Sheratons, in general, are all very nice....good, better and best. Enjoy, relax, don't worry.

I stayed at the Sheraton World a few years ago. My room was a Standard room and was just "OK". Not great, but not really bad either. Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra $35 to upgrade.

Have you joined the Starwood Preferred Guest program at www.spg.com ? You will be staying in 2 Starwood properies and it might be worth it to join. Make sure your SPG# is on both reservations and you might get an upgrade :).

Have a great time!

It was wonderful seeing you in chat, Annika. I hope you will join us again some Sunday.
