This year my family will be at WDW for Thanksgiving. As of right now, we are planning to eat at Boma. So I'll share our Thanksgiving menu from last year, which was a big hit with my Chinese-American family (and a few non-Asian guests). We don't really like turkey, so we do traditional Chinese festival foods with an American twist.

Appetizer:
-Tempura fried veggies (green beans, yam sticks, green/red pepper strips, mini broccoli florets) and shrimp
-Pumpkin butter dip for tempura
-Crab & Artichoke dip with toasted mini rice cakes

Main Course:
-Chinese roast duck, served with traditional steamed buns and duck sauce (ordered from a local Chinese restaurant)
-Broiled rainbow trout stuffed with sautéed onions and mushrooms

Sides:
-Sticky rice stuffing with sweet Chinese sausage
-Green bean casserole
-Roasted spicy potatoes
-Cornbread

Dessert:
-Sesame puffs (fried donut balls rolled in toasted sesame seeds)
-Pumpkin Cheesecake (frozen Cheesecake Factory)
-Green tea ice cream

Turkey
Ham
Mashed Potato Casserole
Broccoli Cheese Rice Casserole
Whipped Chipotle Sweet Potatoes
Corn Casserole
Homeade Rolls
Salad
Fruit Salad
Pies/cookies

Hey, that is just for an appitizer!!!

we usually deep fry two turkeys, then I deep fry about three or four diced up potatos, they get all the spices in the oil from the turkey rub!

Mashed Potatoes
Green beans w/almonds
White corn w/butter sauce
Hot sweet rolls

I never do Thanksgiving we go to my mom's. The menu has basically been
Roast Turkey
Stuffing - without raisins. She did this one year and we rebelled
Mashed Potatoes and gravy
Creamed corn
Brussel Sprouts
Canned cranberry sauce and my brothers homemade (I won't touch it way too tart)
Green olives -don't know why but it's tradition
something else vegetarian and lactose free for my SIL
And WINE. I need this to deal with my brother's who don't get along
Dessert is always pumpkin pie, apple pie and coconut custard pie smothered in cool whip. We never vary from this menu because my brothers are crazy about everything being traditional.

We always start out with:
clam dip (family recipe) with Bugles

Do you have a recipe to share? I love Clam Dip, it is my favorite!! :)

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas!! I loved reading each and every one of these posts and I have a few ideas now of what I want to do! :) Please keep posting your menus and I will keep reading them all!!

I do appreciate all the help!! :)

It was DH's grandmother's recipe, so we must have it for every holiday. :cutie:

1 8 oz package cream cheese
1 can minced clams
Worcestershire sauce
Bugles

  • Drain clams, reserving liquid.
  • Add clams to softened cream cheese, mixing well with fork.
  • Add the reserved clam liquid as needed (You don't want it soupy--just a good dipping consistency.)
  • Add a little Worcestershire sauce, be careful not to use too much. Just enough for your own personal taste. (I use maybe 1 Tbl.)

I make it a day ahead, refrigerate, then take out about 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle a bit of paprika on top, break out the Bugles or chips, and enjoy! :thumbsup2

I am going to guess turkey and all the fixings but I have no idea where we are going this year or if we will just stay home.

I don't do appetizers on Thanksgiving because I don't want to fill up before the big meal :lmao:

I'm guessing a waffle house or a truckstop. My husband will be out of town and I'll be driving down for the weekend to see him and staying in a hotel room. That leaves us to the mercy of whatever is open.

I'm making a mini thanksgiving meal before he leaves.

This year is going to be the first year that I am responsible for the Thanksgiving dinner *fingers crossed*

It will be turkey with a slight spicy kick, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, dressingcollard greens, Grilled green beans with those canned fried onions on top, canned cranberry mold I like it that way because I like the novelty of the can's rims on that stuff I guess, seasoned carrots with some biscuits or rolls on the side and a spinach salad also some lovely yams with marshmellows, I am going to beg my grandma for her spinach casserole recipe. It is creamed spinach with this really nice salt and vinegar topping, it sounds kind of gross but it is the best. For appetizer I was thinking of a basic summer sausage with crackers thing, some mini-quiches (frozen kind, I am not cooking that on top of everything) and some gingerbread. For dessert I am going to call out for some pumpkin pie.

Also some white wine...one for the guest and one for me to get through this without a hitch.

When we are home:

appetizers:
pickles
olives
cheese
barbeque hotdogs

Dinner:
Baked Turkey
Stuffing
mashed potatoes
corn
green beans
gravy
rolls

Dessert:
chocolate pie
apple pie
pumpkin pie

when my Father was alive I would also make a mincemeat pie just for him.

When at Disney:
Le Cellier
