Our school sent the lists home in June. No problem. I bought most of it in early August.
The 1st grade updated the list August 17. I just found out yesterday--didn't know it was any diffferent. Now instead of "school box" they want the long school boxes and specify the measurements. I already bought him a school box and it is NOT the right size. I might add that the long ones are very hard to find at any time, more so now.
I feel that I shouldn't have to buy him another school box, it's like being penalized for shopping early. Do you moms agree?

Even though I would be frustrated too, I'm sure I would be driving all around town trying to find one.

But I would be griping about it the whole time :)

What Jesse said -- however if I couldn't find one or didn't have the time to shop it would be "oh well". I don't think they get that hung up on supply lists at our school. Mostly they just want pencils, paper, binders.

I agree with JessetheCowgirl!!!
Find it on the internet and let'em know it is on order...

Not a mom but a first grade teacher here. ITA with you. Some people need to focus on the important things - like teaching. Just my 2 cents!::yes:: :teacher: ::yes::

I'd just use it at home to store his at home school supplies (I keep a supply box of many of the same items on the list for the kids to use for homework--pencils, crayons, glue, protractors, scissors, etc).

This is foolish but,.............I've been a parent for 13 yrs & have never heard of a school box. Is it the same as a pencil box?

A school box in our school is used for pencils, erasers, crayons and anything else that fits in there. My dd needed one last year. Had to be a certain size, and I couldn't find one. We went to Staples, Office Max and a few other stores. Then I went to the mall and looked at the tupperwear kiosk and lo and behold, they had one. I bought it, put a few stickers on it and everyone was happy.

Thanks. :) I've never had to buy one for school. We have them here at home for crayons & such. :)

Thank goodness our school kids share supplies, don't have
desks and I can spend the last days of summer relaxing!:sunny:

I did buy some snaks to take in for the first week. The kids
are always hungry and lunch starts 1/2 hour later this year.

The schools here are always changing their lists and I go out and search griping the whole time too. There's one item, the bigger white construction paper, that I've never found though. It's been 3 years and I've still never seen it.
