The comments are beginning about TCD's recent report of the Pavillion and Horse Barn demolition to take place in the future at the Fort. It seems the DVC snobs are beginning to look down at us low life campers....

Don't get me wrong, I am a DVC member AND a camper, but there is no excuse with making these idiotic comments....

It was too close to low-life commoners like us, apparently. Everybody knows that to be truly high class you have to buy a timeshare in a condo.

if it's the same as the acronym I know, Saratoga Springs Resort (I thought it wasn't sold out, but might be wrong) It was built over the old Disney institute right near Downtown Disney. It is far from the parks and takes a while to ride buses there.

I was just talking to my mother, Timeshare Cabins would be one cheap yet great idea... as long as they remain affordable.

I said years and years ago, the only way to get me to buy DVC is to buy into the campgrounds. But I want regular camping sites, nothing fancy smancy for over the top rigs. I like my greatland tent and AC sitting on the tailgate.

1. Has planned daytime childrens activities......check
2. Has a slide at the pool.......check
3. Hot tub........check
4. Transportation to Magic Kingdom other than bus......check
5. Has a table service restraunt/lounge....check

Sounds like we are Deluxe qualified to me

But here is what we have in addition

1. We get to sleep in our OWN beds
2. Amazing site decorations during holidays..(which they want to come tour)
3. Fantastic Golf Cart parades
4. Pet parades
5. An atmosphere that you never want to leave and cant wait to get back to
6. Kungaloosh
7. A great group of Friends and friendly people. Alot of great friendships start at the fort.

All of these things and many, many more are the reasons we choose FtW as our home away from home at Disney. Better things to focus on while on vacation than keeping up with the Jones...more like bonding and spending time with my family.

I still can not figure out for the life of me the hate against SSR. We bought there and we enjoy it, as do many DVC members! Not sure why people have to knock it. Why the continuos hate, what gives?

I do not enjoy OKW but I sure as heck dont go around the DIS knocking it. Its quite annoying and frustrating.

SSR is a gorgeous resort. Beautiful grounds. So riding a bus makes you a minority?!

I have no problems with the resort, it's just some like to complain for the sakes of complaining. In fact if you think about it you also have to ride a bus to get anywhere from AK Lodge. If you want to get to Epcot from BLT you need to transfer monorails. Nothing is perfect...

Hmm, sounds to me like it was just maybe one post that was really obnoxious. I do understand where you all, err, y'all, are coming from though. Some people get really snotty about owning a timeshare. I'll refrain from saying anything else about that and how financially I'm not sure it's so smart as that'd be my personal opinion.

I looked at DVC long and hard. I was almost sold on a resale at OKW - which I liked because it WASN'T like most newer DVC properties. It just wasn't what I wanted in the end. I live in a condo/townhome... I don't want to vacation in one. That's nothing special. In the end, buying a motorhome seemed like a better fit for me...

I will say, however, that buying DVC would have been cheaper. That's all. Just sayin'. My $0.02 worth.

Honestly, it's all preference. My neighborhood is a dead ringer for SSR and I like living here just fine. In fact, I love it.

Funny, though, that when I vacation and see SSR pop up as a good deal, it doesn't really interest me. It's a gorgeous resort, but I guess not "Disney" enough when you compare it to some of the others for me. Then again, BLT never really caught my eye. That's what's so great about WDW and DVC... choices for everyone. I like OKW and lots of people hate on it... not sure why everyone can't like what they like and move on.

We already have to share the amenities with the general public who sneak in, and lodgers from most every other resort. Sometimes ya gotta wonder if campers arent a minority at FW amenities, "they" wont run into many of "us"...
