Checking in from Ireland once again, not that only a few people really cared the last time I did.. lol.
But wanted to say i kissed the Blarney Stone today. I didn't think i would be able to do it (for people that don't know, it is at the way top of Blarney castle, highhhhh up there. You go backwards and up side down to kiss it. It is very protected but still quite scary being so high up looking down and being in small quarters to get to it). But I did it and am very proud of myself and have pictures & video to prove it.
We are riding horses on the beach and taking a boat tour tomorrow, we are at the very south of ireland along the water. Only 3 days until we go home.. i'm ready! I miss my kiddos.

 DBF and I took a trip to Ireland for two weeks in August!!!

You said you're near the water (I know Blarney is more inland) but are you near Kinsale?? Kinsale was our hands down FAVORITE place we visited. When we were there we stayed in Dublin mostly because he has 6 aunts that all live right outside of Dublin. We visited Waterford, Kinsale, Cork, Rooskey (tiny town on the Shannon in Roscommon) Blarney, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry.

I had no trouble leaning back and looking down at Blarney castle- it was that darn spiral staircase I had trouble with!! :rotfl: One thing we found funny was that we saw the most Americans there. Also, out of all of his aunts and cousins- NONE of them had kissed the Blarney stone :rotfl2: Seems that it's not an Irish thing to do, it's just an American thing to do in Ireland.

So glad you're having a good time- we both absolutely loved Ireland

Sounds like you're having a great time. Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see them. Have a great rest of your vacation! :sunny:

Lucky You... now you will be blessed with the"Gift of Gab". I too kissed the Blarney Stone many years ago...1981 to be exact! I have been to Ireland 3 times ...(my father is from Ireland) but not since 1981. I've been invited over to my youngest cousin Liam's Wedding ,next June and I hope to go!!!! Always saving for a Disney Trip :wizard: , but I think next year will be the year I get to go to Ireland ,again. !!! It is such a beautiful country and most of my relatives/cousins are still living over there. They come over here to visit very often,so we stay in touch. My relatives are from the Dingle area in Co. Kerry....very scenic area!!! Did you get to Dingle and the Slea Head area????Hope you are having a great time ,Enjoy your stay !!!!! :shamrock:

That is so neat. There is no way I'd have the courage to do that. Please make sure you post some pictures when you can. I would love to see some. My mom was born and raised in Belfast. The closest I will ever get to Ireland is some pictures.

That sounds great!
I'd love to see your pictures when you get back.

I kissed on the Blarney stone years ago and was surprised at the laying down and skooching backwards thing too. It's a bit unnerving.

The horseback riding on the beach sounds like a lot of fun too.
Have a great time!

We are actually in Kinsale right now. Got here in the evening yesterday so didn't get to do much but eat dinner. We are staying at the Trident hotel right on the bay, looking out the window at hundreds of boats right now. My dh surprised me with a suite room and it is GORGOUS!

i'm looking forward to seeing more of the town today...

I'll have pictures when i get home, my dh laptop does'nt like the firewalls so we can't do much of anything on there so i'm using the wireless keyboard connection through the tv. The tv is a huge flat panel on the wall, so it's kinda hard to use.

I did it as well a long time ago when I was MUCH younger. I was proud of myself until someone told me that the locals go up there and pee on the stone when they are drunk. Not quite sure of the truth to that story but it did freak me out for a bit afterwards! :sad2:
