I keep hearing about lunch with imagineer. Is it worth it?

I think I read it opens up on my 60 day window. Wondering if those that have done it think it was worth it

We did it last November and it was fun. The people we had lunch with talked way more than we did because they were definitely Disney geeks. They knew all kinds of information that I had no clue and asked some pretty specific questions. My software engineer husband thought it was really fun and would do it again.

Now as far as the autograph plate you get, nice but we got two and they are still in the box. I haven't figured out what to do with them. The imagineer even joked about the value of him signing it. LOL

So I guess my answer is "yes it's worth it" as the experience is unique. I think we were eating lunch at least 2 hours. The food was very good. We did the lunch option.

DS and DD did last spring and got a high enough imagineer that as soon as they walked in my DS knew who it was. Most the guests were fairly quiet but DS is total Disney geek, asked lots of questions and felt one of his best experiences at Disney. They got to hold a model of the Dumbo cars and he shared so much.

DS did again last month and got a imagineer project manager that gets more involved in the finance and management of projects. He said there were more guests asking questions this time so there were many perspectives. He said this imagineer was great too, he learned alot and was still able to ask many questions.

His plan is to do it a few times a year. Honestly getting a 4 course meal at the Brown Derby in a private room, the plate, the name tag and the imagineer - great value!

Thanks everyone! So do I make a reservation like an ADR?

Yes. When you go on and pull up the calendar you will see highlighted dates because they only do it a few times a week. Click on those dates and book from there. You will pay at the lunch.

I have heard about this for years but would like some more information.

How much does it cost? (I'm guessing it's not on the DDP.) And where do you eat?

The brown derby lunch is around $60 per person plus tax and tip and it is select menu. There is a special room off the brown derby near the new outside bar area. They keep the groups small so it is really more like a conversation. There is another group the meets at the boardwalk, but I don't know anything about that one. If you have an interest in behind the scenes disney it is a great experience. :thumbsup2

Silly question.. but.. I'm guessing you sit at a large table with other parties? I'm taking a solo trip and this was something I wanted to do, but want to make sure you sit with a few other people. Sitting alone with an Imagineer would be totally awkward for me.

That's really helpful info. Thanks. I'm glad there are other parties there as I would be more on the quieter side. :)
