Distance means nothing in LA. Traffic builds out of nowhere with no notice.

LA is the only place I have driven through at 1 am where there was traffic backed up everywhere. And I have been many places.

We thought that maybe it would be fine on a Saturday going home but with a stop at the Getty. That was the most painful 5 miles I've traveled on a freeway, and I've been stuck in storm where a freeway section flooded.

Yes, we're flying into LAX (I know, but it was SO much cheaper) at 9am on Wednesday, staying at the Hilton, Universal on Thursday and then Ubering to DLH that evening. We'll be in Anaheim for 6 days.

I plan on doing a real Cali vacation at some point, but this one is really just for Universal and Disney.

Just FYI - if you look on a map, LAX is less than 1/4 mile to the beach. There's El Segundo, Dockweiler, and Playa del Rey just to the west of LAX. It would be a short ride (obviously there's no direct route through the runways) to any of those beaches from the airport, but you're going to stick out like a sore thumb with a lot of luggage. There are luggage storage businesses near the airport, but with varying reviews and somewhat iffy locations.
