I just screwed myself...how do I fix it?

I have a room only reservation with AP discount for 6 nights for a solo trip. I have two unused 2-day tickets from about 3 years ago. One is assigned to me, one to DS. My plan is to upgrade one of the tickets to an AP after I get there. But I just realized this means I can only make two days worth of FP+ in advance. Not good!

I see two options:

1) Assign both tickets to myself temporarily, giving me 4 days of FP+. That would be better than two. Can I even do that?

2) Upgrade one of the 2-day tickets now. Can I even do that? And if I do, do I loose the increased value of the ticket since I bought it (as opposed to using it for park entry before upgrading?)

Does anyone have any experience with either option?

If it matters, I don't care about SDMT or A&E. But I do want Soarin x 2, RNR, TSMM, Space, and EE at least. Thinking I can single rider TT and maybe RNR.

Have either of the tickets been partially used? If not, then you can assign both to you and upgrade to an AP once you are there. If you bought them at a discount you will want to use one for entry and then upgrade it. You probably won't be able to use the credit for both toward the AP. You can then use the AP to make the remaining FP+ selections. Then deactivate the second one and use the AP for the rest of the trip.

Assign them to 1 person, buy the rest of the days and upgrade them all to ap when there. They will put the money spent now towards the ap price and cost the same in the end. I just did this.

I have assigned multiple tickets (unused) to myself to make FP+ prior to getting AP. I don't believe you can upgrade prior to arrival the 2 day tickets unless you are onsite at WDW before your trip. And as PP stated, you will need to enter a park using the "cheaper" 2 day ticket before you can upgrade to AP or you will loose the discounted value (search bridging tickets). Not sure if both do not have the discounted value if you need to prioritize the two tickets before entering? Have a great trip!

You can assign the two tickets to yourself for FP. But you can only use one ticket towards the AP upgrade. To get "today's" ticket value from the old ticket, use it first at a park before doing the upgrade. The other ticket will remain unused. If you're worried about having both an AP and the old remaining ticket assigned to you in MDE, where the old ticket could possibly be used for park entry instead of your new AP, change the old ticket assignment to a phantom name in MDE. Keep the old ticket there until AP renewal, at which time you can assign it back to yourself and use it toward the renewal (use at a park entry first).

Thanks all. Both tickets are unused. They weren't discounted, but cost less than the current value....they were part of a package about 3 years ago. Sounds like my best bet is to assign both to myself, make 4 days of FP+ at 60 days, then upgrade one to AP on my first day and hope I can still get decent FP+ times for the other two days after I get there.

It's either that or purchase a new 6-day ticket now from a discounter (UT, etc.) and put that towards the new AP (after using first). You'll get your money back for the 6-day ticket from the AP cost reduction. And you'll still have your 2 old tickets. As stated before, you can use the old tickets toward AP renewals.

Remember, the FP+ days don't have to be consecutive, so I'd recommend waiting till you have the AP to make them for DAK as that tends to have the most availability. Also, if you're planning to visit MK and not do the 7DMT one of your days, you can wait on that one too. That said, leaving the unplanned days until later in the trip will still afford you more FP+ options obviously.

PP has a good point. Your getting an ap anyway, if you can afford to spread out the payment and want to keep the 2 individual tickets, just buy a new one for fp and upgrade that.
