Everyday at lunch I stop at a Winn-Dixie store around the corner from my office to pick up a newspaper. Today I needed to grab some food for the cat so I decided to go ahead and get it while I was there. There was a woman in line in front of me who was a little down onher luck. She reached in her bag and pulled out a pair of reading glasses. She told the clerk she had bought them there last month to help her read because her eyesight was very bad. She wanted to know if she could return them, they cost her $12, and buy food as she didn't have any money for food.

The clerk had to call the manager over because the lady didn't have a reciept for the purchase. They took her name and information and agreed to let her return the glasses if she bought food. She gladley accepted the money.

It just broke my heart... So now it's my turn to be checked out. I paid for my stuff and the same clerk handed me back my change.
I pealed off a ten and 2 ones and asked her to please find that lady who is shopping for food and give it to her, to let her decide if she wanted to buy the glasses back or get more food.....I think I shocked the clerk... I had to repeat myself...she was just standing there with her jaw open... :) Last I saw of the clerk she was running down an aisle in the store waving the $12.....

Tony, you made me cry! What a nice thing to do!

Awwww that's really sweet Tony, what a lovely thing to do!
I have tears in my eyes as well.

That was very nice of you Tony!!!! I have done that before in one of our supermarkets that only takes cash - someone in front of me around the holiday time was short on cash to pay for all of their items and I walked up behind them, scanned my debit card, and told them to have a great holiday!

Makes a heart feel good!!!

OK,
I know you probably didn't intend this but you've got me crying here....

Holycow

Tony, What a nice thing to do! (People with cats have the kindest hearts! :) )

TC:cool:

don't do that to me while I'm at work! That was the nicest thing I've heard in a LONG time.

Thanks, Tony, for reassuring me that kindness is not as rare as we think. You've helped more than just that poor lady, today, believe me!

Sounds like you got more out of that $12 than you could have ever bought in a store. What a good person you are.

Tony, that really was a nice thing to do.

When I was checking out at the grocery store today the cashier told me management was buckling down because of theft. There was a person who had taken some "Paid" stickers and took off with a bunch of expensive items. My first thought (which surprised me) was did they need to? In other words, was this person down on his/her luck or just a thief? Unfortunately the cashier said the person is a thief but they did catch him.

You did a very nice thing, Tony. You should be highly commended for your actions. If all of us did the same, wouldn't the world be a nicer place?

Tony that is the sweetest thing I've seen in a long while! You do have a good heart underneath that macho tude don't you:)

P.S. You have a cat:eek:    I'm further impressed!

Tony you have a heart of gold. Cat people are definitely good people.

I may not know you in person, but I am proud to know you at least through the DIS.

Good for you, Tony. I'd say you hit that one straight down the fairway.

I couldn't agree more ;) :)

I just love to hear stories like that Tony.
We do things like that all the time for people.
It's nice to know that others do to.
I often wonder.......... if everyone that could, helped others, what the world would be like.

Thanks for the smile, I bet she was smiling too:D
