They were doing a soft opening this afternoon and I had the chance to ride Nemo! :thumbsup2

I think this will make a nice addition to the Living Seas area, and the great thing from my perspective is that this *really* looks like it will handle the crowds well! The clamshell ride vehicles are spaced very close together, and I hardly had to wait at all to board!

I'm so jealous! Glad you enjoyed it.

Thats so cool, Lucky you :thumbsup2

:) That is so exciting that you got to ride it! I can't wait to see it when I go back next summer!!!!

So glad to hear it's open and you enjoyed it. I know my kiddos are going to love it!

I watched a video of it . . . couldn't see much but could hear all the audio. it sounded like the soundtrack was in some places extremely repetitive in short order, so as you were moving to the next area you'd hear the same clip of soundtrack three or four times. did you find this to be true, or was it just the way the mic was picking it up on the person's camcorder?

Awesome!

I can't wait to see the (Spoiler alert!) part with the characters "swimming" in the tank. Was the effect good?

How great! I can't wait to check this out! Thanks for sharing!!

Yes, please please give us more info about the ride. Do you think you got on fast because there wasn't a lot of people being let on or because the ride could accomodate a lot of guests at once? I'm glad you liked it.

Epcot was rather crowded today, but the wait for Nemo was short due to the fact that it is able to handle a LOT of guests.

I did get a fairly decent video of the ride, but unfortunately it came out to a 141MB ".MOV" file, and I'm lacking conversion tools to "shrink" it to something reasonable. If someone has the tools and wants to volunteer to do this, please send me a PM!

Now, on to the ride!

<SPOILER ALERT!!!>

First of all, the queue area for the ride is very well done. The first part of the queue seems to reuse the switchback area from the old Living Seas entrance, but re-themed to a more "Nemo-esque" appearance.

After these initial switchbacks, the queue transitions into a nice "under the sea" feel. If you look above you, you can see the water's surface, and at one point you can see the bottom of a boat, complete with anchor, hanging from the sea's surface down toward you in the queue.

As I said before, the ride uses "clam shells" as ride vehicles, and these are spaced very close together (maybe 2 feet apart?), so the guest capacity is HUGE -- I'm guessing maybe 1.5x what Buzz Lightyear can handle, just for comparison.

On the ride itself, you spend the first portion of the ride looking out of your clamshell facing a sort of "movie screen" wall. That description really is a disservice though, as the screen is very-well themed, with each section of the screen framed by "non-virtual," Nemo-themed scenery. Some of the characters on the screen swim along at the same speed as your clam shell, and most of them are (of course) looking for Nemo.

As you near the end of the ride, things start to transition into the "real" Living Seas aquariums. You can see some of the characters from the movie appearing to swim around in the real-water aquariums with the real fish that make up the Living Seas. And by the time the ride ends, the characters are gone, and you're looking at all of the real sea creatures that inhabit the aquariums. This transition to the "real" aquariums was one of my favorite parts of the ride!

</END SPOILER ALERT>

All in all, I think this is a GREAT addition to the Living Seas area.

Oh, and as a bonus, I suppose, I noticed that while the preview was running, the line to see Turtle Talk with Crush was shorter than I've seen it in a while! :goodvibes

Thanks for the review! I can't wait to try this ride but I have to wait until May!! :Pinkbounc

It seems like a great ride! I'm glad they were able to make the Living Seas a popular place again. :thumbsup2
