I have a friend that just finished the program and she looks and feels awesome so after deliberating over it for a while, I decided to go for it!:thumbsup2

I've heard it's pretty brutal and tough to stick to but I'm going to try my hardest. I doubt I'll be able to complete it in 90 days but I figure... why not give it a shot? I'm a student and gym memberships are expensive and I don't have a gym nearby, so I've really been slacking in the fitness department and I hate feeling sluggish!

Mostly I want to concentrate on how I feel and really just get my body feeling back in shape and energetic.

Have any other DISers done the program? Any helpful hints to share or success stories? I would love to hear them! Or if there's anyone else doing it right now, I would love a fitness buddy!

Hi Autumnpalm!! I'm sorry I can't comment on P90X but.... DH & I are on our 20th day of Power90. We were looking into P90X and decided it would kill us!! :rotfl: So we plan on doing at least 2 90day circuits of Power90 and then switch over. I personally haven't lost many pounds, DH has lost about 4-5 but I am seeing changes in my body. When we first started out, we thought that the whole "supplement" thing was just a way for BeachBody to make more money. Not so, I have a good multi-vitamin and a whey protein mix from the Vitamin Shoppe that we started last week, feeling soo much better! :yay:

Good luck on your journey, and PM me if you want to be fitness buds!! :thumbsup2

My Dh has the P90X and he loves it. The exercise routines do kick you butt, but that is what he likes. The diet part didn't bother him. You can really see the difference in yourself if you stick with it, DH looks great.

Both DH and I have done P90X. DH had so much fun the first time he is doing it again. I think he is crazy. :scared1:

The workouts are brutal but the results are amazing. You'll see results pretty quickly the first 30 days. The next 30 days things kind of level off, but you'll start seeing results again the last 30 days. A cookbook/guidebook comes in the kit; we did cook a few meals from it which were pretty good. There are lots of tips on how to eat properly which I found helpful.

Good luck to you. The ab ripper was my least favorite, followed closely by yoga.

Charity, I almost went with the Power 90 because I'm not in terrific shape but I am hoping that if I start slow I will still be able to do it! Mostly I went straight to P90X because I'm cheap and didn't want to have to order two different programs.

I'm glad to know there are visible results in the first 30 days, I think I'll need something to keep me motivated through all the pain.;)

Disny_luvr, do you have any specific recipes you'd recommend?

I paid for express international shipping so I'm hoping my DVDs will get here by next week! Fingers crossed!

where did you buy it? we are looking into getting it. so far dh saw on the website you can buy in with payments in 3 installments, but we can't find if we pay all upfront if there is a way of getting it cheaper. I've been told to be wary of buying on craigs list.

I just ended up buying it straight from the Beachbody website. There is an option where you can pay all at once, but it isn't any cheaper. I chose that one just so it's easier to keep track of my credit card charges and budgeting, but there was no incentive.

I considered buying a used program from Craigslist or Kijiji something but ended up just biting the bullet and paying full price because I didn't want to have to worry about any scams. I saw another used set on Amazon, I think, but I think the only "official" place to buy it is straight from the website (or on the phone).

P90X is awesome and it will kick your butt. Congrats on starting the program, I'm starting round 2 of P90X.

Is this something that is good for weight loss? I need to lose pounds....get in shape etc. I don't want to kill myself LOL.

It is great for weight lose but it also is a 90 day very rigorous work out program and a diet program. So the workouts will make you sore.

It will get you into shape, lose weight and tone you up.

Have fun with it! I was on week 5, but my DH moved to NY and I'm still in MD for a few more weeks and he took the dvd's with him. It is tough and even if you are in great shape you will be sore in places that you didn't even know existed!

I'm on my second round of P90X. I didn't follow the eating plan, and many a day were skipped (I HATE the yoga dvd!), but I lost about 27 pounds doing it.

As mentioned before, I saw results in the first month, then not much difference in month two, but month three saw about 15 pounds just melt off. I haven't worked out in about a month, though, so restarting the program is a bit brutal, but by the third week, your muscles will adjust to the workouts and you won't be sore at all. The first twoo weeks utterly suck!

Good luck! :)

I downloaded it for free and I will tell you, coming from someone who used to play football (extensive workouts).. this thing kicked my butt.. the plyometrics is insane!

We've only done a few of the workouts. We started a couple weeks ago, but had to stop because DW is studying like crazy for a certification test she is taking on Monday. Once that's done, we'll start again.

Yes, if you do everything exactly as they do it on the videos, it's brutal. But they also give you tips on what to do if you aren't ready to do everything 100%. He says something like "do your best and forget the rest". As an example, there a lot of pull-ups, but they show you how to use a chair for support if you can't do full pull-ups without assistance in the beginning. They also tell you to pick a goal number of reps and use an amount of weight that is light enough to be able to meet that goal. So overall, it's very flexible and you don't feel guilty for not doing everything 100% when you're starting out.
