I just opened up my account this morning (thanks MeredithJ)!!!I am excited about this. My husband thinks it is a scam but I might open one up in my dd's name. Now if I only knew 25 people in order to get the other free money!!!

I just opened my daughter's account. I think I'll be more disciplined with the transfer than I would physically going to the bank with multi-accounts. I can deposit into one account and transfer to others.

It did take me awhile due to bank name issues, but its been great so far. I named my 7 yo dd's account: COLLEGE (how original huh? Maybe I should name it: YALE)

I've decided to transfer all survey/mystery shop earnings to my vacation account and regularly depost to my daughter's.

Do most of you do the automatic deposits? Just curious!

YES! I do $20 once a month, mid-month! I really wish I could do more but oh well. Every little bit helps!::yes::

I haven't started doing regular deposits into my account yet. I will start doing that very soon, though. I think that's the only way that I will actually save the amount of money each month that I want to for our upcoming trip! It's just so easy to spend if it's not automatically put in. I need to treat it like any other monthly bill.

Thanks everyone for making us all aware of ING. What a great set up. It was very simple to start up and now I will try to forget about it, so that when I check it in a few months or a year I'll be very pleasantly surprised. I set it up for a weekly deposit from my checking account. An amount that I will not miss, but that will accumulate very nicely in the new ING account. Since that went so well I will now do the same for my son, daughter and husband. Also with a small automatic deposit. I don't plan on telling them about it, so they too will be surprised in a few years. Thanks everyone...you're all great!!!

I would also like to thank everyone for their posts on this board. I opened my ING account last week and was amazed at how easy it is. Our family usually drives to WDW, but we plan on flying for the first time next year. The ING account makes it so easy to save, that I won't miss that money in addition to what I'm already saving for other Disney expenses.
Thanks again for your help!:earsboy:

Yes, although it hasn't happened yet, but starting in August I'm planning on $100/ month to put away for our car insurance bill. Starting in Oct. I'm ditching my credit union Christmas club and putting it in ING for the interest.

For those who have set up automatic deposits, is it possible to set them up for certain dates or days of the week? I just made the initial deposit but would like to set up the automatic deposit feature so I can treat this like a bill. One that I will happily pay for since my account will be used to pay for our future vacation plans to WDW!!!

I thought Mom Poppins new post about the facts was great. It would've saved me alot of searching through all the previous threads and "I PM'D you" garbage. Thank you Mom Poppins, sorry you took some undeserved heat!!

If I remember right you have several choices as to when you want the money added. Seems like twice monthly, weekly, once a month were on there and I think something else but I havent set up that part yet.I will prob do that in August. I only get paid once a month and I want to see what my yearly raise will look like before I decide on an amount.

I am going to step in here. And if I have to step in again after this, I will just close this thread.

There is no need for ANYONE to be nasty! Here is a reminder of one of the Guidelines for Posting that you all agreed to when registering to post on the DIS that says:

NO FIGHTING: Several Internet news groups are marred by the actions of a few selfish people who turn an otherwise positive forum into a soap box for their anger issues. Internet newsgroups are not moderated, and therefore, anything goes. These boards are moderated in an effort to keep the discussions appropriate to the topic at hand. Those who feel they can not abide by these rules are welcome to read the posts on the board, and respond via email to the person who posted the message. Messages that are argumentative or sarcastic in nature will be deleted without discussion.

But also, these boards are not to promote personal gain for any poster. That is considered advertisement and is strictly forbidden.

If you feel that someone is trying to promote themselves (rather than the product - in this example - ING Savings Accounts), please just PM one of the moderators or webmasters. We will review the posts and come to a determination.

If this subject continues to be a problem, (and when there is significant money to be made by hundred if not thousands of people, it is easy to see how it CAN be a problem), then ING will once again go into the word filter and the discussion of it will once again be verbotten.

Simply stated, when you post be NICE! ::yes:: AND be FAIR! ::yes::

Thank you!!!

I personally love my ING account. I have $10 a week taken out to go into ING automatically, so I don't even have to think about it. It's very very very very good and is what I'm going to use for my eBay payments now. :)

I just send extra when I have it to ING. The automatic option is great too though.

I just opened my ING account and referred my 3 girls so they will have accounts. Whatever I save for them will be their spending money for DW next April. Thanks everyone for all the great info!!!!

Okay, I've seen this thread but never read it before. When I saw all the postings I became curious what this "ING" thing was.....so I read it today and opened my own account and referred my DH and two daughters as well as my sister. Gosh, I wish I read this earlier....what a great idea!!

I just opened my account, and would like to do so for my kids, but the Social Security angle has me worried. I figure mine is out there for all to see, and hopefully not, to steal and my DD's and DS's are not in very many places. If you have started one for your children and there is not the credit to do a check with, how does ING verify? Do they even want your child's social? Thanks in advance, as I know I will get help from my DIS friends!
