Actually, I'm not even that much of a big sports fan, but there are certain things you must reverence in this state and when I saw I was coming up on 315, it immediately came to mind!

If I had known I would get this much attention I would have posted something of more real significance!

Yes, and at that point became the winningest college football coach in history!

He retired soon afterwards and the record has since been broken, but it was a big deal at the time.

Since I am "alabamaalan", I thought it only appropriate to mention it when I saw the number coming up.

Of course, Bryant was also "honored" by having BJ's monkey named for him.
