I just made the most delicious pizza.

...and no one in my family will go near it except me! Guess I have lunch and dinner for tomorrow taken care of.

I made a homemade crust (Pioneer Woman's recipe, my favorite). Then I drizzled a little extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled kosher salt on the crust, layered sliced fresh mozzarella, chunks of roasted butternut squash from my garden, carmalized onions (holy moley they tasted like candy!) and goat cheese. Then, in a burst of inspiration, I drizzled the tiniest bit of real maple syrup over it, more kosher salt and some freshly ground black pepper.

WOW.

It was so good it rendered me speechless. I cannot express the richness, the sweetness, the crispiness, the melty goodness... heaven. So gourmet, and I did it myself!!

I love doing that- making a homemade pizza crust and piling on whatever strikes my fancy.

Any awesome pizzas you'd like to tell about? I love hearing about weird/different/delicious pizza combinations. We eat pizza at least once a week at our house. Maybe one day I'll find a pizza my whole family can agree on other than plain cheese!

Art 1- absolutely! I made way too much for myself.

redlight- my husband doesn't like butternut squash, my youngest daughter doesn't like goat cheese, and my oldest daughter doesn't like butternut squash, goat cheese, or onions.

I made them a boring cheese & pepperoni. Mine is way better!

We make a lot of homemade pizza, too. Mostly throw-together toppings on whatever we've got. Buffalo chicken is a big one (as a former Buffalonian, it's my birthright). Tropical (pineapple, bacon/Canadian bacon, red onion), too. I love just plain mushroom pizza, too, although no one else in my family likes 'shrooms.
