I recently had a portable unit go bad and called to cancel the service. To keep me as a customer they sent a refurbished unit to replace the broken unit. I just tried to activate the unit and it is still active under the original owners information, XM cannot activate it for me.

This time they wanted to charge me $79.99+shipping for another unit. I don't think so. Now they really have lost a customer.

Ugh!!!!!

They lost me when Sirius bought XM. Now that horrible Sirius compressed audio dominates the XM signal. I had to cut it loose. Long live Internet Radio.

ding ding ding same here! sirius is AWFUL compared to what XM used to be. They even offered me a full year for only $60 I turned it down. Havent heard from them since.

Huh I love my Sirius radio. It's in the mini van, we have a subscription that never ends.....lifetime subscription, can't beat that. :)

did you always have just sirius? I think thats the difference. Everyone I know who started with sirius say they still love it, but eveyone I know who started with xm now hate it because its so much different. For example the hip hop stations are plan stations just like your radio just unedited, but when it was xm it was real underground hard to find artitsts with new music and mixtapes. Also xm had very heavy metal station and stuff like that, I got to sirius and was hearing everyday rock on a heavy metal station.

Its like sirius just took normal radio stations and made them unedited not really makeing them thier own stations.

maybe thats changed since I stopped

Streaming music from my phone to the car works for me, if I have a mobile phone signal, I have streaming music, with no commercials and can create my own channels (I love Pandora).

Us, too! We cancelled XM/Sirius, got ZunePass and never looked back. The only station we miss is Radio Disney for DD. We do listen to it on the computer at home, but would like to have it in the car, too.

Add me to the list of problems with Sirus/XM- I originally had 2 XM's and 1Sirus, tried to combine them into 1 account, was told, they can't - so I'm paying full price for 1 Sirus, which totally annoyed me because it should have been 1 full XM, and 2 discounted- anyway... cancelled Sirus radio and was offered a "DEAL" from XM, get a radio for $9.95 (refurb, but I didn't care) "no activation, 3 mts free service" YEAH RIGHT- took me 6 mts to get them to take it off my bill, first they charge me $69 for activation (BTW, radio was never activate or even installed yet) plus, they changed my account to instead of 1x month billing- to quarterly billing for all radio's, so first month I receive a bill of over $100! :scared1:I was fit to be tied- called them up to tell them their customer service rep. was deceptive, they "took it off the bill" yeah right, next month, same thing, only now it's a paper bill too.. It took me 6 months of calls to straighten out, then they have the NERVE to charge me for a CANCELLATION FEE after they finally take the activation fee off- I was so pissed I almost cancelled all the radios (but DH wanted it). FINALLY got it all straight- THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST.

I started with XM. In fact my husband had Sirius and I purchased XM. I cancelled the XM and switched over to Sirius too. I can't stand XM. After having the radio for a few years, my husband and I both purchased lifetime subscriptions. :goodvibes

Why pay for Sirius when there is Pandora for free? I don't care about any of the sports they carry and the one show I do care about is available via alternative means. Sirius's customer service is terrible. I know people who work at the company who can't get problems solved. What chance to the rest of us have?

We always had Sirius, that's what the van came with. We bought the van in Jan, we were supposed to have 30 days of free service but the dealer cut the service off after 2 weeks. I loved my Hair Nation station so DBF paid for the lifetime service to the van for my Valentine's gift that year. Since we plan to have the van forever it works out great for us, plus we can switch the service to a new receiver, of course they limit that but since it's an 05 van we bought in 06 we still have all our transfers. :) We looked in XM at one point and didn't like the programming so for us Sirius worked.

Sirius lost a bunch of cool stations with the merger as well. No more punk channel.

We had Sirius for 5 years and just got XM w/best of Sirius when we got our new car. We got the Lifetime subscription. I just cannot go back to FM.

I've tried Pandora, but I am not really a fan.

Hey, thanks for the Pandora suggestion!! I didn't know about this- just set up my profile, created a few stations, and am listening to a song off the Tarzan soundtrack now. Pretty cool- between Pandora and Live365, I'll be set for listening on the computer.

When in the car most of the time I like to sing a long to something. Not some song Pandora thinks I would like, but I don't . Can't thumbs down or skip while driving. Much easier to change the station on Sirius from my steering wheel. Repetitive, just because I like BNL does not mean I like the same 4 other bands they play over and over.

The changing channels I guess is an issue depending on the phone and your key setup, and if you setup your stations correctly, repetetiveness (sp?) is not as much of an issue. But each there own. There are other similar free services as well.

Don't need free when I have my paid for XM in my car that I really enjoy. :)
We listen to Howard in the morning, can't get him on Pandora. And then a variety on the drive home. Traffic ticking me off - there's chill. Want some fun, cheesy sing-a-longs - 80's & 70's. Need a laugh, the different comedy stations. Whatever mood I am in, there is a station for it. Nothing to set up, no thumbs up or down. No phone batteries to drain.

XM is one thing I can NOT live without.

I havent listened to regular radio in two years
DH listens to it in his home office and we have it at work:)
