A little background. I bought The Concert for New York City CD to give to SOMEONE for Christmas. I was in chat the night the concert was held, and because I don't have cable TV, I was hearing live commentary from Alex and PandyPaws! :) I gave the CD to my husband, but he wasn't interested in it - so it's now in MY mini-van! :D Any way, as I listened to it for the first time today, I came to the 3rd track: Bon Jovi's Livin' On a Prayer. That brought back a flood of great memories from our first night at Jellyrolls! From now on, whenever I hear that song - I will be reminded of all my DIS-Con buddies that were at Jellyrolls on Nov. 28th!!! :)

Livin' On A Prayer
~ Jon Bon Jovi

Once upon a time, not so long ago.
Tommy used to work on the docks,
Union’s been on strike, he’s down on his luck....
It’s tough, so tough.

Gina works the diner all day,
Working for her man, she brings home her pay,
For love - for love.

She says: We’ve got to hold on to that we’ve got,
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference, if we make it or not,
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love - we’ll give it a shot.

We’re half way there,
Livin’ on a prayer,
Take my hand and we’ll make it - I swear,
Livin’ on a prayer.

Tommy got his six string in hock
Now he’s holding in what he used to make it talk - so tough, it’s tough.

Gina dreams of running away,
When she cries in the night, Tommy whispers: Baby it’s okay, someday.

We’ve got to hold on to that we’ve got,
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference,
If we make it or not,
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love - we’ll give it a shot.

We’re half way there,
Livin’ on a prayer,
Take my hand and we’ll make it - I swear,
Livin’ on a prayer.

We’ve got to hold on ready or not,
You live for the fight when it’s all that you’ve got.

We’re half way there,
Livin’ on a prayer,
Take my hand and we’ll make it - I swear,
Livin’ on a prayer.

a great night- Loved that song and another one they played "Like a Bat outta Hell" by Meatloaf- still humming it- Great people, great time!:)

Nancy, what a great night!! I do not think that night and everything will ever be recreated again. We all seemed to bond and things just clicked.... good people and a wonderful time!!!

Patrick great songs....nice memories!

That's a great song for "singin' along", Nancy! We did have a great time. Who would have thought I'd find another "dancin' fool" like myself that night?!?! :D:D:D

I seemed to spend most of that first night at Jellyrolls asking people what song they were singing! Next time I'll be able to sing along to at least ONE song! I think I need to drive somewhere now so I can hear "Livin' on a Prayer" again! That Bon Jovi song will forever be my DIS-Con song!

Pat - would you please hum a few bars of the Meatloaf song to refresh my memory? :D

The wonderful times at DIS-Con aren't something that can be re-created. It will NEVER be exactly like it was - but that's why we have memories! I'm looking forward to making wonderful new memories with many of you at DIS meets in the months to come. :)

I bought Neil Diamonds greatest hits the other day.. now you know when I am singing alone to Sweet Caroline,, that my chorus is This song s**ks... LOLOL.. I need to make my ressies for Chicago soon.. give me something to look forward to... and our road trip to Barb's..

Oh.. thanks for telling me.. Tom and I thought you were sharing the driving.. Oh well..

:) ;)

Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone gone gone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning comes
But when the day is done
And the sun goes down
And moonlight's shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven
I'll come crawling on back to you

 Another 'missed-by-me' post.

I love Bon Jovi.......and I LOVE that song from Meatloaf (one of my all-time favorites!)........and I will forever remember singing (or was I YELLING  ;) ) both of those songs.......as well as many others. ;)

There was a CD in Michael's (the arts and crafts store) that had ALL of the songs we sang at Jellyrolls on it. I should have bought it.......what the heck was I thinking?!?!

Like a Bat out of Hell is a cool song....brings back some wonderfu; memories.Though I agree with Ms. Mackey, that sweet Caroline will forever be my DIS CON song. I will never be able to listen to or sing that song the normal way again. Brings back awesome memories....

So Ms. Mackey are you booked yet for Chicago? Come on lady get a move on.

Heard "My Girl" on the radio! Awwwwww! That was a perfect Jellyrolls song, too!
I love "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" ! That and the Bon Jovi Song are absolutely great songs for singing out LOUD!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Tia - what was the name of the CD at Michael's? I didn't know anyone was recording us at Jellyrolls that night!! :D
