And now I'm a tad bit well..curious and frightened I suppose. I don't exactly know what to think.

I go to get the mail and in with the usual collection of junk is a small box. I pull it out and the address label says my name and address. The return address just says "Book Buddies--Pass it On!"

The postal stamp says it's from Forestdale, MA. Only I don't KNOW anybody in Massachussetts!

So I opened it up out of sheer curiosity. Wrapped inside some plain white paper towels (I think they're Brawny, they have the little scrubby circles on them) are four books:
Muletrain to Maggody--Joan Hess
Komarr--Lois M. Bujold
The Egg and I--Betty MacDonald
Cordelia's Honor--Lois M. Bujold

So I'm wondering who on earth sent these to me and why? I never signed up for a DIS book exchange (or any other sort of book exchange that I'm aware of).

This sort of creeps me out. But I'm curious to see if they're good books or not so I'll probably read them.

But I have no idea who I'm supposed to 'send' them to next.

Anybody got a clue? :confused3

Wow~That is weird. I would read the books and find an address in another state and pass it on.

But who on earth sent them to me? And why oh why didn't they put a return address? :guilty: :confused3

at least it's not this

Forestdale is right near me.

All I can think of is that people look up someone random in a phonebook andsend them books, you add a book to the bunch, and then find someone else in another state and send the 4 books you got plus the one you decide to add.

But Tiggeroo--I would actually LOVE to have a lamp like that. I"m just wierd that way. :rotfl2:

I wonder if they did just pick you at ramdom from an address list. You will have to let us know if you enjoy the books.

I'll let you know, chell. I'm a little backed up right now as far as reading goes because I got two books for Christmas :I'm Just Here for More Food! bu Alton Brown and Compleat Cat: The Cat Who Came for Christmas, The Cat and the Curmudgeon and The Best Cat Ever by Cleveland Amory (which I'm really enjoying).

The one about the eggs looks interesting. According to the back cover, it's a true-life adventure about a woman on a chicken farm.

It's the basis for the 1947 film with Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray; also the basis for the whole Ma & Pa Kettle series of films. Don't know anything about the other ones...

makes me think of a spy thriller. They send you a book. Then they send you pages with numbers. The numbers represent pages and words in the book that leads to a secret message. An unbreakable code unless you know the book and edition.

Oh then I should like it. I used to LOVE watching the Ma and Pa Kettle films on cable with my grandmother when I was growing up. I thought they were a hoot! :rotfl2:

The two by Lois M. Bujold look like those over-the-top romance novels you find at the grocery store, only with a scifi/fantasy setting. MMm..heaving bosoms and bulgy man bits! :rotfl:

In zero gravity? That could get dangerous! :teeth:

If you don't like the Alton Brown book you can send it to me. :flower: Next time I splurge and buy myself something I need to get that book. He is so interesting and I love his show.

No way jose'! DH bought it for me as a Christmas gift and I am loving it! I'm probably going to the grocery store tomorrow or Fri to buy some stuff so I can try some of the recipes. I also want to start my own sourdough bread starter per the instructions in his book. I LOVE sourdough bread and I can't get enough of it. I'd eat it with every meal if I could. :)
