I just don't get it!!

What is so great about the sofabeds?
I have seen so many posts about how they are so comfortable, much better than the beds,etc. Now I am very curious as to what exactly makes them so nice and DH is asking if anyone has a picture of the sofabed!

I haven't seen this claim, but I couldn't disagree with it more. My one wish for DVC is that all studios had 2 queen beds.

It would be nice for the studios to have the option of one bed and a sofa or the two queen beds. If I'm staying alone, I like the sofa there. But there are times where two beds would come in handy.

As for the pullout's They are good for a pullout but I would never pass up the bed for one.

My son used it on our trip last week and he loved it.

I slept on the new sofa bed this past December. It is VERY comfortable so much so that I already put dibs on it for our BWV October trip.

Started me thinking that I should buy a memory foam top for my regular mattress.

There's always OKW for two beds in the studio!

The sofa beds are a totally new design that I've personally never seen before. When opened, they are actually more like a bed than any sofa bed.

There are no cross bars underneath you, The mattress if very thick.

The cushions don't even come off, they stay attached to the frame when it opens up.

A conventional sofa bed, you remove the cushions, then grap the little strap that's up front and pull the bed up and out of the frame.

The new ones, the strap is at the very back center of the backrest. Up where your shoulders would be when you're sitting. You pull that strap, the entire back and bottom come out to form the bed.

I'll bet you money that if you blindfolded some one and brought them into the room and had them lay down, not telling them which was a real bed and which was a sofa bed, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They literally are that good.

Remember though, not all rooms outside of SSR have been converted to the new-style. The old-school pull-outs are still as awful as typical bar-in-the-back lumpy pull-outs. But, the new ones are really, really, really comfortable - even more comfortable than our bed at home. It really does make you consider buying a Tempurpedic mattress.

Do not consider the sofa beds as comfortable as the beds. However, I do admire their engineering -- one pull and it all comes out and the pillows are right there in slots that you see and remove them from as you are doing the pull.

I agree. Comparatively speaking, they are much more comfortable than the traditional sofa beds, but I certainly wouldn't choose to sleep on them rather than the regular bed.

Which resorts have the new sofa beds?

The "new" sofabeds at OKW are not the same as the "new" sofabeds at BWV. The BWV ones are great, as Caskbill had described. The one we had recently in our OKW living area was not like the old ones, but it still requires removing the cushions and is not a memory foam type. Better than the old ones, but not as good as the other new ones. Others will need to post about other resorts.

The new style sofa bed, without the bar, is available to the public, but it may not be EXACTLY like the new ones at DVC. Someone on these boards was nice enough to post pictures and send us in the right direction when we were shopping for a new sofa bed. Then last week, due to house repairs, I had to spend 3 nights on our sofa bed, and I was pretty nervous since I have a bad back. Well, it was very comfortable, and my back even better than usual. The brand is www.americanleather.com. BTW, there's no leather ones so I wonder about the name!
