Then I took our change to the bank and got $169:hyper:

That's $607 in found money.

I am SOO EXCITED. :Pinkbounc We leave in 7 days for VWL, we will be there for a week. That should just about pay for our food!

:wave2:

Congratulations!!! That's awesome.

I'm still new to the disney visa thing....I thought you capped out at $270 per year? I must be incorrect huh?

Ok, please tell me--what is the Disney Rewards Card? Is it the same thing as the Disney Visa card? I just got a disney Rewards card. Do I get cash back or something for using it? I just put about $1000 on it--$500 for car repairs and $523 for airline tickets. Should I be looking for some sort of cash back?

Yes, I meant the Disney Visa Rewards. I got $438 dollars sent to me on a disney rewards card. We are taking it to pay for our food next week.

You accumulate 1% of your total charges. Each month on your bill it will give you a total. If you charged $1000 this month, you have 10 in rewards. You have to wait until you have 25 and then you can request a rewards card. It looks like a gift card. It is valid at WDW, the disney store, the disney catalog, DL, etc...

We charged our entire DVC membership. Also my DH goes to grad school (about $10,000 a year) which his company reimburses him for. We charge all the tuition and then pay it off with the reimbursement check. Combine that with our regular food, gas, clothing, etc. It added up. We were one of the first to get the Visa card. Our card says charter member.

What fantastic totals! Congratulations! :)

Okay, you seem like a knowledgeble person on the rewards issue.

I currently have 35 reward dollars on my account and should get another 20 or so this month. Should I request cards frequently or just wait until I'm ready to go to WDW and then request one card. I know it takes a few weeks to get it but is it safe to wait that long to request the card or should I request a few of them between now and then...or does it really even make a difference?

When are you planning on going? Personally, I waited. This is the first rewards card I have gotten. The cards do have an expiration date. Mine expires Dec 2005. The points that are just sitting on your account don't expire for a long time. My first point expiration date wasn't until 2008.

I think the cap is $750, but I don't know where I am getting that number from. It is what comes to mind.

Once you request your card, you can have more points added to it without getting an additional card. Just make sure the expiration date on the card works for you.

Great job! I am also a member since day one and we had enough to pay for one PAP when I cashed in around June. It really did help defer the cost. I also charge everything i can afford to pay off at the endo fo the month. All day to day living expenses as well as any utilities that will take it!

I am also a Day One Member and I just went online and ordered my Rewards Card and transferred almost my entire balance of $1000 to it. Even though the cap is $750, there have been some bonus incentives that allow up to $100 per month over the normal rewards you would receive. I should be getting more reward dollars posted in the next couple of months even though I have maxed out on the $750 for this year.

I'm going to Disney in Dec. and I hope to have $100.00 by then. That will be my mad money and I'll feel free to spend it on something for myself.

Yes, they aren't actually called points, my fault. I just went and looked at my statment and they are called Dream Reward Dollars. You get at least 25 just for signing up for the card. Sometimes it is $50!

If you go to www.50disneyrewards.com , you can sign up for a card and get the bonus $50 in rewards. You would have to spend $5,000 before you got that many rewards, so it's a pretty good deal. Make sure you use the code at that website.

The cap is $750 per year that you can earn. I would wait until I was ready to go to Disney to order my rewards card (about a month out). The cards expire the Dec. in the year after you order the card. So if you order now, the card will expire Dec. 2005. If you order in Jan. 2005, the card will expire Dec. 2006. The points I am earning now, I have until 2009 (5 years) until I have to put them on a card.

I am going in November & have about $110 on tap, but I also have Disney Dollars saved up. It really is a relief to know that I have about $235 in my pocket -- I was hoping for just food money, & it looks like I've made that. (It's just me, so that's all I need.)

Speaking of Disney Dollars, I would like to recommend that you use your Disney Visa to purchase Disney Dollars for your trip -- a few each month of your planning stage. That way, when your trip comes you have your Disney Dollars to spend & your rewards card & not a HUGE bill or a huge withdrawal -- & you are earning MORE rewards dollars just by buying your Disney Dollars.

Have a great trip.

I hate credit cards (lots of bad history with them in the past) but the rewards intrigue me so I have a question for those who use them.

I understand you can pay your bill online, is there a limit to how often you pay? My thoughts are that I use my check cashing card for everything now, if I don't have cash in the bank I wait until I do, so if I were to use the Visa Card, could I pay it off as soon as the charges show up? Thus I use it for the weeks groceries, gas, etc. and every Saturday make a payment of the weeks charges.

Does this make sense?? Do they allow this?

Thanks,

Kelly

Kelly check your PM's, but the short answer is yes you can play on line!

I love :lovestruc the idea of buying Disney Dollars throughout the year to help save for the trip and putting them on your Disney Visa is pure genius! I really didn't need it this time, but will do that for our trip in may (no kids :teeth: ).

This time I gradually charged and paid off everything I could in advance. The only things not already paid for is our food (but the rewards card is for that so I shouldn't have a bill) and 2 AP's for me and DH. There was no finacial advantage to purchasing those in adavance so we are buying them on site. The kids tickets, the airfare, the hotel, all paid for in advance. So the only bill I will have when I get home is my 2 AP's!

I had my dad buy everyone in our family Disney Dollars for our birthdays this year. So we even have our spending money. Each child has $30 for souveniers and when the money is gone, no more stuff!:cool1:

Check out my count down timer! :cloud9:

This card is great for saving up for Disney. I love it and use it everywhere....if only Costco accepted Visa
