I just can't do it. $$ Concert tickets

I wont even begin to think of what i've spent on Bon Jovi tickets :lmao: But its my happy place and i love everything about it from the ticket stress to the countdown to meeting up with old and new friends so to me its all worth it.

If I'm going to pay for concert tickets, the band better be putting on one hell of a show. If they're just going to get up there and sing and nothing more, I'll just stay home and listen to a CD. Last two concerts I went to were Kiss last November and Trans-Siberian Orchestra in December. Kiss was $125 for great seats, Trans-Siberian orchestra was $25 for nosebleeds. Bought great seats for $60 each for this years show though.

The $125 is pretty close to the absolute maximum I'll pay for a ticket and even then, it's not something I'd do often.

...and Ticketmaster is a rip-off. I buy tickets at the venue box office if at all possible.

Madonna's really the only artist I'd pay over $100/ticket to see. Besides her, the most I like to pay is $50-$75/ticket. I also really hate all the fees Ticketmaster adds on. For Broadway shows I go to the venue in person to buy so I avoid the fees. But for most concerts you can't do this if you want any chance at decent seats. (Also why I like general admission shows - it doesn't matter when you buy your tix, you have a chance to be up front if you're willing to get there early & wait in line!)

I paid $100 a ticket for Madonna and we were way up in the nosebleed section. We went early though and there was some Blackberry promoters there who just stopped us, asked us where we were sitting, and then said would you like these better tickets? I was like ok what's the catch lol but there was none I just handed over my tickets and they gave us 4th row seats! The tickets went for $350ish plus fees normally. To be honest I would have paid $350 to see Madonna that close up but I went with friends who didn't want to pay that much, but I lucked out anyway.

I'd spend $200 to see Gaga. I used to go to concerts all of time but to indie bands so they were like $30-50 a pop. But, I'm pretty much always willing to spend the money on seeing bands on my "must see" list. And Gaga is one of them but she's sold out before I even knew she was coming to town.

This is one thing I like about living in Vegas--alot of these artists will come into town and do a special one or two night show for a fraction of the price that a regular concert ticket goes for. Many are held at casino theaters or in nightclubs, some in restaurants like House of Blues, and you can completely avoid Ticketmaster by purchasing at their box offices.

I just saw 3oh!3 last night and the tickets were only $20. Grant it, they were not playing at a huge venue, just a nice sized club.

I think Ga Ga is the best concert I have ever seen! That being said I think the tickets are crazily priced. We ended up sitting 4 rows from the top and those tickets were $70 bucks after fees. The floor seating, well there were no seats. It was standing around on the floor smoshed around the stage that jutted out into the crowd. No thanks! For $200.00 I better be at least getting back stage lol!

Just a small vent. What is up with artists these days? DD would like to see Lady Gaga in concert. She added a new show near us and tickets go on sale today. I had planned to geta pair for DD and I to go. It would be her big christmas gift.

Well, i went on, was able to get tickets. I was worried about there being too much traffic or that ticketmaster would be overwhelmed. Well, it came time to pay and the tickets were $198 EACH. yes this included the ticketmaster fees but the fees were only $20 of the ticket price. Is it just me or is $178 a HUGE amount of money to pay for a concert ticket?!

DD and I have gone to see PLENTY of concerts, justin beiber, glee concert, taylor swift, hannah montana/miley cyrus, spice girls, broadway shows, ice shows, every hot teeny booper act known to man, etc. NONE of these venues/artists were basiclly $200 per ticket! That's the regular price not even the scalper mark up! (well, unless you count ticket master as a scalper. i know some do). i'm okay paying $75 -100 for tickets in the lower level. but $200 is WAY too much. How can ANYONE afford that?

I am SURE the show will be incredible both in her performance, visually and the music will be great but really?

Luckily, Lady gaga is not a must see for her but is this where ticket prices are going? I hope not. I can phsiclly afford it but i'm not going to spend it. I just can't jusify a month or more worth of groceries for one night! Or even 4 date nights with my husband which includes dinner, movies and adult beverages!
puLara
find some one who can put on one of her outfits and play her cd

When I saw Janet Jackson in 1994 my ticket was $25. I remember because I had the ticket stub hanging with the poster on my bedroom wall for years.

My first concert was Kansas and Sniff-n-the-Tears back in '79. I paid $7.50 for the ticket.

I saw Valen Halen 4 times. Paid $10 for front row seats the first time I saw them back in 1980 -- a concert that sold out in 2 hours. Went to the US Festival in 1983 in California and saw all of the leading metal groups at that time in one day -- Van Halen, Ozzy, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions, and Quiet Riot all for the price of $20.00! I think that was my most expensive concert!

Needless to say, I no longer go to concerts. They are ridiculously expensive. I could see paying $50 for a 90 minute show, but that's it -- and I'm too cheap to do that!!

This is cool! Did you like their concert? To be honest I have no idea who they are but my brother is working on the tour and you are the first person I've "met" that has heard of them! :cool1:
Jason Aldean was the opening act for Rascal Flatts on their concert tour about 5 or 6ish years ago. He was pretty good, but I can't say that I'd buy a ticket to see 'him'. but that's JMHO... :goodvibes

My daughter and I have been following the band Every Avenue since we saw them on the AP tour last April (we were on vacation in Orlando...and quite a few bands were playing at the House of Blues), Every Avenue played and I  them! We saw them again playing at the Palladium in Worcester and recently at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I signed up for something, so now I get pre-sale info and I get it directly from the tour (Artist arena or something like that) which means, I don't pay the service charges like Ticketmaster charges. The one at Paradise Rock Club we got 4 tickets for less than $60. The only downside is we have to travel to see them :(

Was it is in 1980? ;)

then i was lucky enough to see here at u.b. before the start of football season for free (she sang with her daughter). she was amazing and she doensn't look her age at all.

and she can still sing. oh it was free to season ticket holders for u.b. football

and season tickets were only $60 for 5 games.

I bought 4 PLARS (Party Like a Rock Star) tickets to Ozzfest in Michigan back in 2006 at $600 a piece. (Me, my girlfriend, her brother and sister-in-law). When Brother and SIL found out that Ozzy wasn't going to be playing at Ozzfest, they refused to pay for their tickets. ;(

We went to the show and gave the other two tickets away to a couple in line.
But basically, i paid $1200 a seat.

Now we did have backstage access, did have VIP services (meals and drinks and refreshments) and had Front Row Center seats!!!!! the bands were great and all, but i will never pay that much again...

DH and I paid $300 per ticket to see the Rolling Stones when they last played in San Antonio. It was worth every penny! :thumbsup2

When U2 played Cowboy Stadium we only paid around $50 per ticket. I couldn't figure out why it was so cheap! :rotfl:

There are a few bands/ artists that I would pay that kind of money for, lady gaga is not one of them (I couldn't tell you one thing she sings)...

Dh and I paid $500 for Paul McCartney and he was worth every penny amd them so
e. Pearl jam tried to keep their prices as low as possible, but we will pay whatever we have to to go see them. Bon jovi for me andy bff's is priceless!

+1 on Pearl Jam.

For years they have held the line against insane ticket prices and they set aside the best seats in the house for their fan club members. A front row ticket for Pearl Jam is still under $80 (with the fees included so its really about $65 face value).

They also randomly distribute the tickets for rows 1 & 2 and rows 9 & 10 for every show so everyone in the fan club has a chance to be up close.
They also know their fans follow them on tour so they change the set list every night unlike most popular bands which give you the exact same set list throughout the whole tour.

Plus they're the best live band on the planet - I've seen them 32 times and never been disappointed. Witness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjaSfvSQu0Q#t=03m32s

I'm not knocking Lady Gaga musically, but $200 seats is ridiculous. If she pared down the circus of a stage show going on around her and just performed the song she could probably cut $100 off the price of the ticket. I respect an artist's right to be well compensated for their talent, but I also appreciate those artists who don't turn me upside down and try to shake every last dollar out of my pockets.

I have trouble paying more than $45 for a concert ticket. Although we did pay $59 per seat for Bill Cosby. As DH put it, he's getting older and this may be the only chance we get to see him live.

I don't think $200 per ticket to see Lady Gaga is excessive.

Heck, we paid $360 for our family of four to see THE IMAGINATION MOVERS concert last January. And, that was the "cheap" section!!! It was a great concert, and our kids loved it, but man...considering $40 more would have bought me 2 tickets to see Lady Gaga...
