I spoke to the nicest lady! (I'm sorry , I cant remember her name)

I told her I was calling to see if I had a code attached to my name or email that I could use for our upcoming April trip. Keep in mind that I have done this before. Usually they tell me no and thats the end of it. The last time the lady told me she didn't know what I was talking about and to look on the official web site.

Anyway, she told me that there was a "do not call-do not email-do not mail" attached to me and so they would never be sending me any discounts! She offered to change it and said that now I would probably be getting offers on a regular basis. Before today no one has ever told me they would not be giving me any codes. I also never thought to ask directly why I wasn't getting them but when I am calling to ask for codes I would think that means I want them.

She also said that they are getting ready to send out the new codes and specials and to look for it in the next few weeks.

So good luck everyone on getting those elusive codes and if you have never gotten one I would call and make sure that you dont have a "do not call" on your account too.

Shellie

no kidding! I would definately love to know now if I have the same thing next to my name, as I've never gotten any kind of code!

I thought I would share my code story:
Back in April 2007 I was booking our trip for september before they offerd free dinning.I was talking to the nicest lady and had asked how they chose who they sent out codes to or how I can get one. She said it was done by the marketing department.I explain to her for the last 10 yrs we have been going to disney at least onece a yr and have never recieved any type of code or discount. She seem to really be sorry for me and tried to get me some kind of discount but she wasn't able to. Before we hung up she said to keep an eye out for email/mail in the next couple of months. I thought she was just saying that to make me feel better. About 2 mths after our conversation I received and email from Disney Destination and was offered a free upgrade from a value resort(AS sports) to a 1 bdroom at OKW.The resort upgrade was amazing.I can't think of a better discount. I'm sure that it was just a coinsedent(SP?) that I was sent the email along with others but I like to think that the nice CM I talked to had something to do with it.Maybe she marked something next to my name.I'll never know.
Hope others get sprinked with a little pixie dust:tinker:

What a nice story. Some of the people I talk to who work for disney are so sweet. This lady really loved her job. She actually said that she feels lucky to work there. She was wonderful. We chatted for quite a while

To the OP, I would call back and make sure they had taken the "do not call, mail or email" off of my account. I had the same thing on my account. I never put it there, but it was an act of congress to get it removed. The CM would take it off, but when the system udated the next morning, it ws back on my account. This went on for almost a year. I think Disney has a problem with their system updating and storing information. They would also give me incorrect information about my last trip. Even though the CM would update the correct info, it would always revert back to the old.

Thank you for the heads up! :goodvibes I will call and check. I've been checking my email everyday hoping for an email Disney.

I'm curious, have you gotten a discount code since you had it all straightened out?

Thank you again,

Shellie

Yes, I've gotten two codes since then. Definitely call back and check. I had to send a few emails before I got mine straightened out. I hope for your sake, it's off of your account...because it's very frustrating.

Wow, what would I do without the DIS? Thanks for posting this info. I called a few minutes ago and found out that we were also on "do not call, mail or e-mail" status. The very nice CM made the changes for me and also recommended that I update my profile at disneyworld.com to say that I would like to receive special offers.

I have never received a postcard with a pin code. I hope to see something in the future.

Thanks again!:)

Amen and Ditto!!! ::yes:: Disney lists my phone number as a phone number I had approximately 8 years ago. I have changed it with them umpteen thousand times (no kidding), yet it ALWAYS reverts back to this (very) old number. Let me tell you how fun it is to be told that you can't access your ressie because you can't remember your own phone number (seriously - it's 8+ years old!! sometimes I just can't remember it!). :sad2:

Same thing happens to me every time I call and give my email address. It has changed, I have reported it each time, the CM has changed it each time (while telling me with assurance and authority that they've got it right now...). Every time I call, it has reverted back in the system!!

When you all are referring to 'getting codes' do you mean then send you special codes via e-mail? Not just general codes posted on through disney info sites? I always thought that is where the codes came from:confused3

I too called and changed the info, then I went to the website only to find out that it had not been changed!
that sucks so I did it my self on the website
and now all is well
no codes yet but heres hoping soon

I'm right there with you, except they have about 4 different old numbers for us, we've moved 4 times in 10 years between different states each time. How is it that they can never get it right!

Follow- up

I called yesterday to make sure they took the "do not call" off my account and I was told that "those boxes are not checked"

The lady was a little rude and was not helpful but at least I might get a code!

Could any of you tell me exactly how you call and check to see if you are marked as a do not call? Did you just call the main Disney number and ask?

I'll check my profile online too. I'm fairly new to all this, but DH had such a good time when we went this year, I'm hoping I can convince him to go a little more often if we can get some good deals. Hope for a code would help!

i will have to call and check online. we just got back from our first trip to disney and i am already in the process of booking another for dec 08 staying in pop again

I just call 1-407-WDISNEY and then follow the prompts. There is an 800 number floating around here somewhere but I have free long distance so I don't use it.

My on-line account has always had me signed up for every thing possible but they still had me on the do not call list. I called back and double checked it twice and so far I'm still good.

I too have had the "do not email" attached to my name and have called many times to have that removed, only to find out that, as others have mentioned, the following morning it's back. I have gone to go.com and all the other Disney sites to check my profile and on each and every one I have checked the box that says "would like to receive emails and special offers". That is always correct, but somehow the DRC system is different. I've also had incorrect phone #'s attached to my name including one in Elmira, NY where I've never lived, nor do I know anyone who lives there. I wish their database was more accurate- it must be a huge database though and a nightmare to deal with. At least I can say I've had fantastic CM's and supervisors trying to help me with this issue, but it's been to no avail.---Kathy
