I called just a few minutes ago-- was on hold FOREVER-- and I politely asked if the CM could check to see if there were any codes or PIN numbers or post cards PINs attached to my address and/or phone number-- before I could even get this out of my MOUTH-- the CM-- her names was Caprice-- said it did NOT work that way- that I HAD to have the code to check NOT THEM--and that there was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that they could check to see if there was ANYTHING attached to my name or address- that IF i had a code-- I WOULD KNOW IT-- UGH

she was SO RUDE and snippy and wouldn't do a THING

what would YOU do? would you call me and hope for a more courteous CM and maybe THEY can check it???

Help?? :sad2:

I would call back. Just the other day a CM gave me wrong info and if it wasn't for these boards I would have never known. I called back and got a different CM and he gave me the correct info and booked my PA for me.

Good Luck

Call back....I had a CM who was playing dumb with me when I called and asked and I am still getting the courage to try again. I think the secret is too asking the *right* questions. I think someone mentioned asking if you have a code attatched to your address too. Never hurts to ask. :flower:

Sarah....

How late or early can you begin calling...or stop calling??

i had a similar experience w/a cm that would not check for me 'til i insisted repeatedly that *yes, it does work that way* as i have "friends" who were able to get discounts by calling and asking... he begrudgingly checked and said no... of course, i have no way of telling whether or not he really checked! argh

I can also tell you that it works. I called just to see if I had anything on file and they looked and told me no, but very nicely.

call back definitely, I just called too for the very first time for me and got a very polite and helpful person.....she went out of her way to check discounts connected with my name and address and to give me the dates and to compare other rates for me.....thanks to this board for this tip.....discounts weren't applicable for the dates I want to visit but she told me to call back and check later for more discount codes.....

Definitely call back! When I first called to check if I had any codes, I got a CM who was rude - didn't even bother to check! I called back the next day and spoke to another CM who checked and found a code attached to my name. It pays to keep trying.

The CM are recorded. They really can't tell you any info. You have to ask them the right questions. Try to call back and ask for spec. days and then ask what the best rate is. That usually works and gives the CM the ability to look into your "account". ;) I have a friend who worked for CRO in Tampa and he was "coached" as to what he could and couldn't say. BUT, there is NO REASON for rudeness!!! I have actually hung up on a CM because of attitude! Don't loose heart and keep trying until you get what you want. In the end the guest is always right!! :earboy2:

I would call back! I knew I had a code bc I had received a postcard in January and threw it away figuring there was no way we'd go this year. And I had no idea what a gold mine I threw away at the time!! LOL Well I convinced DH to spend our taxes on Disney and was so mad at myself for throwing that card away. When I called I explained that it got thrown away, and he told me that he could find the code associated with my name, and he did. It was Winston, and he was wonderful.

What I would do if I didn't know if I had a code or not is this - Call and say "I'm not sure if I received a discount postcard or not, and can you please check for me?" This way, you're not just asking for a random discount - you're specific and polite. Hope that makes sense :)

How's this one for ya? When I originally booked our trip about a month and ahalf ago, I called and said that I needed a room only reservation. The CM said, "Oh, I see that you have a pin" I said, "I'm booking with my AAA card, what pin?" She said, " hold on," then came back and said "okay, you're doing AAA" and I stupidly didn't question it. When I hung up and came to my senses, I called back and nobody could find a pin anywhere by my name. Did I have a pin? Who knows. I guess it doesn't matter because, we're going July 17-24 and I don't believe anyone has goten any pin or postcard for after July 4th. I do wonder though if there was one there or not.

I received a code via email on October 20th, 2004.... We did not use the code but I just phoned to check and was informed that the code expired. Do they expire?

Yes they do expire. I got like 5 different ones last year and so far none this year.

CMs at the res center are strictly prohibited from proactively offering any room codes or discounts (including FL residents). This means you have to ask for a SPECIFIC discount or they will get disciplinary action, up to and including termination. For example, if you call and ask "do you have any specials for my travel dates?", they are not supposed to look for you. However, if you ask "Do you have AP rates for my dates?", they can. Some CMs will try to get around this...for example, they CAN proatively offer FL resident ticket rates, so, after getting caller's address, will say "if you're a year round fl resident we have some great ticket deals". Guest will confirm they are fl resident, so CM can look for fl resident room rate for them.

Best thing you can do is keep checking the boards/mousesavers for specific codes, call and say "I'd like to apply code xxx to my res", or "hi, i'm checking about code XXX". And always remember, the nicer you are to them (even when they have to ask you a million questions before checking rates), the more likely they are to try to help you in ways additional to what they are required to do. Their job is much more difficult than you could ever imagine.

Thanks everyone for sharing.... I have applied AP rates in the past. I was not sure if they expired. When I phoned yesterday I did give a specific code to apply to my ressie and was told that it expired. Since I received the code via a postcard email... I was not sure if it is held in the computer and for how long. I guess some of them do expire and I took the chance. I phoned again later and spoke with another CM who explained to me that all codes do expire whether or not you use them. He was very helpful and very polite. Your right being polite does help... which I must say I always am. Through the thirty years of travelling to WDW every year I have encountered only one or two CM's who were not friendly .... their job is tough and they do go out of their way to accomodate us if they can... this time they could not... so like everyone else I will wait and hope for the best. :hourglass :wave2:
