Last spring, I began having dizzy spells - out of the blue. They would come on suddenly and they would make me terribly sick. Went to a few doctors - they all told me it was just vertigo. They didn't know what caused it exactly - but that it usually disappears within a few weeks. (Got some motion sickness medicine).
Well, in the summer, I went for an eye exam and found out I had a detached retina. (This is unusual as I am in my 30's and otherwise healthy). Usually retinas detach very quickly but the doctor speculated that this began detaching sometime in the spring...So, I believe that's what caused the dizziness. Fluid began to go behind my eye when the retina began detaching...No one can confirm this but I am sure they're related.
Anyway.. after rambling on...I would get a second opinion asap and just ask about the risk of flying. Dizziness is terrible - and I feel for you immensely.
By the way, when I scheduled my retina surgery, our trip to WDW was two weeks away. I consulted with the doctor - he said I should have surgery right away BUT as this seemed to be a slow-moving detachment, I could put it off for a few weeks (as long as I saw him every week to make sure it wasn't worse). Flying would not affect it - I just would have to keep away from any wild rides. I was so stressed out about the trip - but finally decided to go. We had a great time - flying was fine. I didn't miss the big rides - I still did all the others!
Best of luck to you.
