I hope this isn't a sign of how my day is going to go...

I usually have grandparents babysit my boys. However, this summer I hired a 17 year old girl to watch them. She lives across the street from me. She is 12 minutes late. I am worried that she forgot. I'm sending my youngest over to see if she is awake.

Wow that is bad... I have been like 5 min late to babysitting before but generally there was traffic or something and I was on my way, but with her being across the street!

Well, the boy went over, the dad answered, and now he has been standing there for 4 minutes waiting. I think she overslept. Ugh.

Yikes! I have a 17yr old coming over wednesday to watch my ds for a few hours and now I'm nervous! Of course I arranged it all thru her mom so I suspect mom will have her here on time! This will be the first time i have left our son with anyone but my parents, so I'm extra nervous. Good luck getting your sitter on track!

Well, the mom knew about the arrangement as well. :rolleyes1 She, too, was sleeping.

The girl walked over and I said, sorry for waking you up, and she replied, it's ok. Um, HELLO?! Where was my apology for being late for your first day on the job?! :headache: :sad2:

I hope the next 2 days go much smoother. I have a back-up in case she doesn't work out. But, the back-up is in Disney World right now. :rotfl:

And, I had an interview scheduled at 11 AM today with a man who wanted the maintenance position we have open (I am a GM of a hotel).

Guess what! It's 11:15 and I haven't seen or heard from him.

I just don't get it. The economy is awful, people say they need jobs, but they just don't want to put the effort in.

Ok, rant over....back to work....

Ok, now I know I need to call if she's 5 minutes late! Let's hope she didn't know the proper way to respond when you said sorry for waking her up and not that she thought you really meant it. I would be sure to mention to her before the end of the day that you need her ther right at x tine tomorrow so please be sure to set an alarm clock :rolleyes1

When you get back home be frank with your babysitter. You have to be clear with her that it is an expectation that she will be on time. I know it is clear to you and the rest of us that her timeliness is important but obviously it isn't clear to her. You have to make sure you are clear about all your expectations and don't assume that she is clear on even the simplest of things. Say what you mean and mean what you say and hopefully things will go smoother from now on.

My husband will get home before me. So, I have asked him to make sure she knows to be there at 7:30 AM tomorrow. Here's hoping she shows up on time.

Hmmmm, I would be worried about what else she doesn't find 'important'.
