My family of 5 DH, ME, DS 17, DS 15 & DD 12 have decided to do a non-disney trip this year. We are going to do Universal and Island of Adventure instead. I haven't decided where to stay yet. I have narrowed my choices to the Cypress Point Grand Villas or Liki Tiki Village. Which one should I choose. The both look good to me but I need opinions from people who have stayed at either one. Please help me decide which one to book.

Thanks

I haven't stayed at either one, but I've seen terrific reviews for Cypress Point. The ones for Liki Tiki have been more mixed. Plus, I think Cypress Point would be quite a bit closer to Universal.

We're also doing Universal (& Sea World) next March instead of Disney. We decided on Vista Cay. Have you checked it out? It's private owners and the builder is the same as at Windsor Palms & Windsor Hills. It's brand new, looks very upscale, & is by the Convention Center, so it's much closer to Universal than the other places you mentioned. I have stayed at Cypress Point before, and it was fine, but we wanted to stay closer to Universal. Check out http://www.vistacayrent.com. You can submit an inquiry here to all owners, and they'll respond with quotes for your dates. We're going at peak Easter time and received quotes from $110 to $200 per night! Big range! We went with one for $128 per night. This is for a 2000 sq. foot 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom georgous condo! Good luck with your search. I think I found some info about Vista Cay on the Universal Resorts board, so you might search there.

With teens who will be wanting to do the big rides have you considered on site for the front of the line privileges? and that the teens could walk over to the parks on their own if you need a break or for some adult time?

I would love to stay on site but to me it isn't worth the money. It would cost me $2000.00 (Canadian Funds) for 1 room at RP. I can't see the 5 of us in one room with one bathroom. My kids are special to me but not that special. :rotfl2:

I second this. While I really like Cypress Pointe, this resort would be closer. It's very nice. We got prices for Thanksgiving week ranging from just under $600 to much, much higher, but quite a few of them were in the $600 to $700 range. They have a lot of amenities and are very convenient to US/IOA (on Universal Drive).
