that the Rocket Rods is coming back in 2010. The track has been under counstruction lately, mainly the autopia area, where autopia is closed for two hours a day for counstruction, are they taking it out or bringing it back. Rumors are swirling the internet and people say that the ride is coming back. What do you guys think/know/ have heard about it?

OOO really ?? I'd LOVE to get to ride it because I didn't get to in the first place.

Well, there's a problem if they bring RocketRods back. The queue for that attraction has been replaced by Buzz Lightyear and Store Command. It's more likely that we'll see the PeopleMover return.

I hope that they are not unless they make it a little better. All I remember about the ride is that it took forever to get on and once you did that it was so fast and nothing really that fun. It came and went so quick! I hate myself right now for talking bad about a disney ride but I really disliked that one, hope it gets better!

RocketRods was supposed to be a major attraction for Disney and yet they closed it within 3-4 years of opening it. Frankly, you waited in horrendous lines for an attraction that frequently broke down and then completely underwhelmed you if you actually got to ride it. All it did was go fast, but it wasn't that thrilling.

If it was as popular and beloved as some people make it out to be, they would have kept it open and/or tried to fix the issues it had.

Question... was RocketRods the Peoplemover?

I found another video on RocketRods and they show the ride.. and it looks like the Peoplemover when I saw another video..

there's the linkk

No Rocket Rods replaced the poeplemover when tommarowland was revamped in 1998. It was open for a very short time and now the track is stting there untouched for years, until now...

The Peoplemover was discontinued, and then Disney modified the track for the Rocket Rod attraction. My understanding is that the Rocket Rods really tore up the track, and Disney never got them running like they wanted to. So, nothing has been up on those tracks.

We went on a VIP tour during the DIS ladies' meet in April, and were told that the head of Disneyland is committed to bringing back the Peoplemover, but after the DCA major refurbishment.

I would think that there is more of a chance for Peoplemover to return than Rocket Rods.

what is this ride? (ok see im only in my 20s i have no idea what this is)

Can someone explain what was the point of Peoplemover?
Not to be rude or anything.. but the name sounds dumb :guilty: ...
Plus it looks boring.. :headache:

Isn't the People Mover called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in WDW? The point is to have a tour through Tomorrowland, rest your feet, and stay out of other ride ques. ;)

Personally, I looooove the music from this old attraction. If you want to hear it you can request it on visionsfantastic.com's streaming radio. It's just fun and upbeat and sooooo 70's. . . . :)

Okay this is a fun rumor. disneyLOVE, I am 52 and when I was younger I liked the PeopleMover. The ramp going up to the ride load area kind of massaged your feet, and for that matter the ramp leaving as well. :rotfl2: The ride itself kind of gave you a tour of the Tomorrowland area. It was a great place to rest and re-group as to where you wanted to go next. You even got to see the inside of Space Mountain. I guess it was much like the Disneyland Train, giving you a tour of that area, and glimpses into the other attractions.
Now, as far as it returning. I hope so. But, the track was so compromised with Rocket Rods, that I was told that there was so much structural damage that a major re-build would have to happen.
So, I guess we will have to wait and see. I for one welcome anything new or re-visited back to that area.:tink:

Personally I think the Monorail serves the exact same purpose at the People Mover did and it'd be a waste to revive the old attraction unless its severely re-imagineered. I thought I read someone that Disney was interested creating an Incredibles-themed ride for the old Rocket Rods track, but I could be wrong.

Besides, its called Tomorrowland, and the old People Mover is little more than a 70's style train. Not exactly a hallmark of the future.

Yes, it was touring tomorrowland. It had barely no line, basically a walk-n, and the ride itself was quite long. Maybe 15 minutes, or at least it seemed that way when I was a kid. I was maybe 10 the last time I rode it, 11 at the most. It was relaxing.
You got to go through the inside of the que to Star Tours, parts of SM, where there were also little laser show things. I honestly did not care for that part at all becuase the laser sounds gave me migraines, even when I was a little girl (had em since I was a kid:sad2: ). You got to go through the que/waiting area of Circlvision, which is know Buzz ride, que, and store. I do not miss Circlevision in the least way, worst thing I ever experinced at DL. SO BORING!!!!!!

So, basically, PM was just a place to revamp your self fo next long line. And if you werent ready after 1 turn on the ride, I was never refused a chance to go around again without getting off.

HTH a bit!!

I'm sorry tinkcollector, I didn't mean it in a bad way!!
I just don't know what they are :confused3

oooo i really really hope they bring rocket rods back!! i loooooved that ride:love: the line was really long, but i honestly thought rocket rods ROCKED!! it was worth the wait, to me. yay im excited now! does nobody else like this ride??? lol i hope im not the only one who thought it was tons of fun! :rotfl2:

It's going to be a version of the People Mover ride once again. No Rocket Rods. MJ is correct. Our VIP tour guide and my DD (who works at DL) have said the same thing. Of course, all rumors are subject to change until we actually hear it from Disney.;) But that is what I believe.

I don't see rocket rods returing, as much as I would like to see them return. What I do see happening is the return of the People Mover, modernized/futurized.
