My husband and I are taking our three kids next August... the last time we were in WDW was 1990, and things have changed soooo much!

Thanks to these boards I know about the AAA discount, the dining plan, ADR's, personalized menus, and a bazillion other things that simply were not on my radar. I'm planning to have groceries delivered, I've ordered fanny packs for the kids for Christmas, and I'm having a blast!!

So, UNLIKE your friend at work, I'm hoping to have the happy medium between getting all I want from our trip and leaving lots of room for spontenaity.

Amazingly on this past Thurs. 9/13 I actually saw a couple walk up around 5:30pm to Le Cellier and were able to get in. They were told it would be an hour wait. The Lady waiting in line in front of me was as amazed as I was.
After that I heard them tell everyone else walking up that they were completely booked.

Maybe just good timing - probably because a good Dis'er called to cancel a reservation they knew they could not make.

Never had a problem getting into CRT, but always call at 180 days. Suprisingly though last February, when I was at FW, a lady walked up to the lobby concierge and he was able to get them and their GD in for breakfast the next day! She didn't like the time and couldn't quite believe that he could not " just change it". Some people don't know how lucky they are

Sorry, but I think you're wrong. To my knowledge Disney saves no tables for walk-ups.

I am not saying every restaurant does this and I am not claiming Disney would advertise such. My comment is based on what we have been told by several different CM's at a couple of different restaurants. And we have been told this within the past year so it is not all of that outdated. One of the restaurants we heard this from was The Flying Fish...probably based somewhat on the fact they have seats at a 'counter' that many people do not care for and prefer a table.

It still all comes down to what you are comfortable with and if getting an ADR works for you, go for it!
