i have Verizon family plan - 4 lines - can i cancel 1 line

BUT the line i cancel (its contract is over) can i cancel that line BUT transfer that # to a different line on the acct?

example 4 phones

111-1222
111-1223
111-1224
111-1225 (this lines contract is over)

so can i cancel 1225 BUT then transfer this # to 1223 so in a sense really cancelling #1223?

thing is we have me and my husband and my in-laws on our family plan - i'm not sure if i want to go with the iphone w/verizon or at&t but my # is the 1223 and my contract does not expire till December and i can't wait till then..

I don't think that you can do that.

But you can use the 1225 number's upgrade to get the iphone for your 1223 number. My sister does this for her kids' phones all of the time. One of her kids is constantly breaking his phones. It might be cheaper to keep the 4th line than to buy the iphone outright.

Switching one line to AT&T would be a very expensive way to do things.
