Okay, I have two trips booked and I can't decide which one to cancel. I will be traveling with my two little ones (age 4 and age 6). I want to go when there will be the least crowds.

My choices are 6/9-6/11 or 6/16-6/18.

I had originally booked June 9-11, but I'm concerned now that WOC is starting on the 11th and the park will be major packed! Plus, one of the days is a grad night.

So, today, I went ahead and booked June 16-18. The downfall of this week, is that TWO of the 3 days are grad nights. On the other hand, since I have little ones, I don't necessarily need the park to be open till midnight. We would probably be out of the park by 9:00 or 10:00 anyway. And each of these days are blockout dates so hopefully that will offer some break in the crowds. Then again, it will be the first week were WOC is in full swing, so that might make crowds heavier, even with the blockout dates.

Sooooo, if your main concern was crowd level...which week would you pick? I need to cancel one of these reservations!

Thanks :)

Personally of the 2 I would choose the later date. Just because no matter which week you decide to go, the World of Color is going to draw in crowds for WEEKS after opening night. The day or so before a big show like this, or when a new ride opens there is usually a celebrity viewing which would probably close down that section of the park, or the entire park completely at an earlier time. Honestly if I were you I would go during the 2 grad night dates. You may have earlier park hours, and the crowds maybe there due to the new show, but you at least can go in knowing what to expect.

Look into Ridemax, or take full advantage of fast passes. If you can get a magic morning then that gives you an extra hour in the park too.

Ditto. :)

Yes! Go with the 1st set of dates!:thumbsup2

I'd go with the earlier dates too and avoid the WOC crazies!! If you avoid DCA on Friday, or at least in the afternoon/evening you should be fine. If they do close early for media on the 10th they'd only close DCA, and it may not be that much earlier than a normal DCA close on a typical Thursday.

LOL...okay so now I have two votes for the first set of dates, and two votes for the second set of dates.

Someone break the tie!

I say the earlier dates, I BROKE THE TIE, lol! No seriously, I would go with the earlier dates! Have fun!

Well, I'd say the 2nd set of dates, to avoid WOC opening (with media coverage, etc), and with all days having SoCal APs blacked out. So we're tied again :rotfl2:

Tag, you're it! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I didn't check the actual days of the week - but if I were to go again with my kids I would make sure it was Mon-Fri - no weekends if possible. The earlier the better during the days - and out of the park by dark - or fireworks at the latest.
I found it most busy & somewhat frustrating when it got dark and there were more local teens/ college kids who were knowing where they were gping and not looky-loos like us.

HTH :)

My first gut thought is to go with the first set of dates. Because, some schools are still in session and you only have 1 day of WOC crowds to contend with. You might get lucky and see a "soft opening" and can just avoid DCA on the 11th. Also, it takes advantage of weekdays which are typically less busy than weekends.
