I don't think it's official until you lick your fingers and clean the dirt off of their face (or smooth that one little spot of disobedient hair). Boy, I loved that as a child. As a parent, I hear my mother in me quite often.
" Everybody's doing it? no not yet, 'cause youre somebody don't forget"
UGHHHHHHH I hated that one!!!
now I hear stuff like that coming out of my mouth on an almost daily basis I guess its true what they say " Mirror Mirror on the wall, I Am my mother after all!"
LOL This just happened the other night after youngest dd's soccer practice. Her sister was playing on the playground about 100 feet away and I told her to go and tell her let's go home. She took about 5 steps from me and yelled! I said, "I could have done that."
I find I have evolved a little from my parents, I do use, "because I said so", but I don't use, "Shut up or I'll give you something to cry about", and when I clean their faces with spit, I ask them to lick my finger, instead of doing it myself.

Even my DH, who stays really current on music AND listens to stuff like Linkin Park, Eminem, Limp Bizkit and other such junk I can't stand - gets more gray everytime DD plays her CD's.
That's when I knew her music must be pretty terrible.
And as far as Taking Back Sunday - I've tried to like them, really I have - but I still think all their songs sound the same and that they sound just like all the other bands (Yellowcard, Foul something Boy, etc.)
as far as the cleaning faces with spit, my DS6 was completely appauled by this until I told him it was " magic mommy spit. "
He tolerates it bit more now but not much.
