I have to vent somewhere, right?

I read somewhere, maybe here :lmao:, that you should pick out a sentence that you use a lot and use the first letter from each word as a password:

"If you don't stop whining I am going to send you to your room" would be: IYDSWIAGTSYTYR. :thumbsup2

....hey, that rolls right off the tongue, don't it??

I keep all my passwords in an excel file that I keep locked. That way, I really only need to remember one password and it doesn't change. That being said, I use the same password for most of my life's 'low security' accounts so I don't have to look that one up. After all, a hacker probably doesn't care to hack my account with some random chinese company to order a thousand widgets (An order that will be automatically cancelled if funds aren't transferred within a few days.) and I am not too stressed that the chinese company might log in as me on the Dominos or Amazon websites.

I'm forever forgetting passwords!

On another note- my Mom went in to DD and ordered a pound of coffee- the guy said, "What size pound?" My Mom said, "The biggest pound you have....":lmao:

Passwords. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. At work I have to have passwords. One for my email. One for my documentation. One for event reporting. One for blah blah blah. In my real life. One for my email. One for Amazon. One for disboards. ad infinitum.

I have Dunkin Donuts coffee sent to me, four bags a month. I had lots of company over Xmas. I need my coffee sooner. I DON"T KNOW MY STINKIN PASSWORD. Why do I have to have a password????? Someone's gonna hack my account and HAVE EXTRA COFFEE SENT??????

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

Sorry. Just had to vent. You all have been there.

Oh, I'm with you. The work ones are the worst. For my personal stuff, I use all the same user ID, with different, yet easy to remember, passwords here and there. (DIS, eBay, Paypal, Webkinz, Amazon, online banking, etc.)

Work is horrible, because there are so many independent programs with totally different password requirements, and also different USER ID's. One is my 3 digit department abbreviation + my 3 initials. Another is the company abbreviation plus my 4 digit employee ID (not at all related to my SSN, btw). Another is my first initial and last name. Another is my last name only, with the first letter capitalized. It drives me INSANE! Why can't we at least use the same User ID for everything?

Then the passwords. One has to be 8 characters with numbers, letters, and at least one special character. Another CAN'T contain special characters. Two have to be changed every 90 days, and one of those you can't reuse the last 5 passwords. :headache: I hate it!

Ironically, the one with the tightest security of all is my work email. I use this strictly for work, and just get stuff like "the gift shop will be closed on New Years Day" and "you are scheduled to attend xxxx meeting on xxx day, please repsond." Hardly top secret stuff. In fact, most of them say, "please print and post this email for those without access." :lmao:

However, the one that should REALLY be private...the one with patient info...that one has a 4 letter password that I haven't changed in...um, about 14 years. No kidding. :rolleyes1

I couldn't remember the cell phone account password when I had a question about my bill -- not to be confused with the account pin number or the voicemail password.

O my, you must have Verizon too!! I swear it took me an entire day with a dozen phone calls to 5 different customer service reps just to order a stinking phone! DH set up the account years ago and isn't even on it anymore, he has a work phone so he had no clue either. ARRGGGHHHH!

I finally did print out an excel spreadsheet with all the passwords for all our accounts, not just for my memory, but for DH if I should succumb to some untimely demise. He wouldn't even know how to begin paying all the bills, etc.!

...you lost me at 'Verizon'....

For those of you having to change passwords this is what I do. I have my "set" password that I use for pretty much everything which is two capitalized letters (usually someone's initials), a zip code that I can remember, an asterisk, two lowercase letters and for passwords that have to change I add the numbers 001 - everytime I change it I add a number - next one would be 002. Example: AB12345*cd001 (NOTE: this isn't my password!) This usually covers all the requirements of a "good" password and is easy for me to remember.

All of my passwords are the same with the exception of the ones I have to change constantly - I just keep the latest number written down somewhere. Luckily I only have a few that need to be changed and I know which ones those are.

Someone else I know uses the website name and adds a set series of numbers, etc to make it work as a password - for instance DISBOARDS#123ab - the #123ab would always stay the same for each website.
