So, my sister and I decided to take a day trip to DL this Sunday with my daughter(5 years old). We're planning on keeping it a secret and telling her we're going to Grandma and Grandpa's house and then showing up at DL. I know she's gonna be sooo excited. We were just there for a couple days in Oct. and didn't plan on going back till this Oct. but we need some girly time together so this should be great! I want to tell her sooo bad but I know it'll be soo much more fun if it's a surprise!!

We did a suprise trip last March and are doing another one this April. The one last March was a huge surprise. We told the kids we were going to Long Beach for daddys work. They had no idea Long Beach was so close to Disneyland. We managed to get to the hotel, and get a good nights sleep before we told them the truth. They were super excited. We had just been there the Oct. before, so they werent expecting it at all.

This year we'll probably tell them the day before the trip, maybe the morning of.

When we went to WDW in 2004 we totally surprised my boys. They knew were going sometime in November or December but that's it. So the morning of would normally have been a school day, so we woke them up (SUPER early, but we had changed all the clock the night before) and they got all ready for "school" and I told them I had their backpacks in the van already and that they'd missed the bus, so we'd drive them. So we all pile in the van, they're still so sleepy because it's about 4:30 in the morning....and we head out...Well, we miss the turn off to the school and they wait a few minutes and then ask where we're going....Oh, to get gas we say...then we keep driving and finally they're like, hey, where are we going?? DISNEY WORLD!! They were so excited! I love surprises...especially when they're not for me! :goodvibes hahaha

We did the trip to grandma's trick for a DL trip in 2001. We'd already told them they would miss a day of school as we were going to GMa's for Thanksgiving. We got the kids up early (4 am ish) and started driving. As we got closer we told them we'd decided to meet grandma at a freeway stop for a special breakfast (8am). When we got out of the car we told them we had some bad news and some good news. Bad news... not going to grandma's for Thanksgiving. Good news... we're going to DL! They were excited to see grandma for breakfast, but thrilled to be going to DL! We'd planned to meet 3 other families at DL, and they didn't find that out until we ran into them at the park. It was wonderfully fun to see their excitement! :cheer2:

Good luck keeping the secret, I simply cannot keep that kind of secret from my dd 6. For our October trip I booked 30 days in advance and finally told her a week and 1/2 before we left. She was super excited.

My son knows we are going to Dl in december, but we are going to suprise him in June. We are going to tell him we are going to Grandma and Grandpas house, which we are, just after disneyland. Priorities, you know!

Santa brought our kids a surprise trip to DL this past Christmas. My dd was jumping up and down. DS was in shock. I don't think he believed us until we got to the airport.

Try not to spill the beans. The look of surprise is soooo worth keeping the secret.
:thumbsup2

I love it when you told the kids they were going to go to school and set the clock's back how much fun that sounded
