I have bought myself the beer mug for my upcoming Fantasy cruise. (What a nice guy I am!!) My question is this - where on the ship can I get draft beer? I'm sure the bars on Deck 4 will have them. How about the bars upstairs around the pools? Wouldn't want to miss one!

Most bars have draft beer. However, if you are not a Miller Lite, Bud Light, Bud kind of beer drinker, you will have to hunt around for a bar with draft beers that are more interesting to you. Most of the bars do not have the same choices outside of the 3 I already mentioned. You'll have to go to a specific bar to get certain beers. There is a good variety of draft beers onboard, but you will need to do a little detective work early on to locate them.

And remember to ask for a token when you finish a beer and aren't getting another one straight away. They server will take your mug and give you a token (card) to use later. This way you don't have to carry the mug around with you wherever you go. You just take the token to a bar or give it to a server and they will bring you a fresh mug with whatever beer you ordered.

Or, you can just wander around with an empty mug and a sad expression; then a castmember will be sure to point you to the nearest draft beer location! :rotfl2:

What does having the mug do exactly? ?? Does this mean free beer? Totally confused and intrigued?...

wondering this also, ill have to get my dh a mug! LOL
and where do u get these mugs?!

You can buy the mug onboard. It gets you a tiny amount of "free" beer. I think you get 20 ounces for the price of 16. Someone will correct me on the details. The nice thing is, you can take the mug home and bring it back on a future cruise and continue to use it.

Also, they have a card, like a business card, that acts as the mug. So if you don't want to carry a mug around or carry a mug home, you can put the card in your wallet. Then you turn the card in for the mug anytime you wish.

Exactly. I've purchased the mug package twice. The first time so I could take the mug home as a souvenir, the second to get the token to use on future cruises.

Good to know!
thanky ou.
where do i get this mug?
And does anyone have a pic of it?!

Can get it at several of the bars. Certainly at Diversions on the Wonder and Magic, O'Gill's on the Fantasy, and 687 on the Dream.

It'd help if you could provide which ship you'll be sailing so we can give you more specific answers. :)

You can get the mug in the shopping section of your My Reservations section I believe. $15-16.

Get a 22oz refill for the same price as the 16oz and you get to keep the mug. Price varies depending on which beer you choose.

Any bar that sells draft beer will sell it. Unlike drink promotions on other cruise lines where you have to purchase a package on embarkation day, you can buy the mug package at any point during the cruise (provided the bars are open).

I just got off the Dream and found it much harder to get a domestic beer than it was to get a micro brew. Very few places had domestics on tap and it was Bud Lt. I normally only drink domestics but enjoyed the micros and most of them came at the same price as a Bud Lt ($5.95 with 15% tip included). I found the Beer mug deal to be a great value, a 22 oz micro brew for basically $5.00 before tip. I would pay $4.50 for a 16 oz at my local bar with out the tip so i was very impressed to find something I thought was a good deal on Disney. The mixed drink prices were even good, I saw Margarita/Mai Tai's for between $6 and $7. I only had one mixed drink on the cruise but it was very strong. I would definitely give a thumbs up to the alcohol prices.

My OP said I would be sailing on the Fantasy. ::yes:: I understand how the beer mug program works - I was more interested in WHERE I could purchase draft beer. Is draft beer available in Currents and Waves for instance?

After searching this topic and reading many threads about it, I see where my question is often asked but seldom answered. So I am going to do some "research" (i.e. lots of beer drinking) in a couple of weeks when I am on the ship. I will come back with a list of a) all the bars that carry draft beer, b) the types of draft beer that they had, and c) the cost of the beer. Consider it my service to mankind!

Oops! I guess I've been reading threads too late into the night!! Have some info for you so hopefully it'll make up for my oversight.

Places I remember having taps during our October sailing include:

O'Gills - had Guinness and Strongbow (cider)
La Piazza
Currents
The Tube
Bon Voyage

Plus there is a little bar station up next to the soft serve ice cream (Eye Scream) on deck 11 that had a single. ETA: Frozone's Treats! That's what it is called.

Places where I'm not sure:

Waves (I know they have bottles)
Cove Bar (Adult pool)
Cove Cafe (Coffee bar that does serve booze, but not sure on beer)
Oh La La (Pretty sure they're just champange-minded in there)
Skyline (Is a full bar but small, they may just have cans or bottles? Or run to The Tube for you?)
Preludes (I think they just do single serve beverages here, but they roll up the doors when not open for the shows so I don't remember checking)
D Lounge (Can't even remember if they serve real cocktails, maybe just smoothies and milkshakes?)
Outlook (You can hardly call this a bar. No soda gun, doubt there is a beer tap run up in the stack)

As far as what types are where I have been told that the selections not only vary, but rotate from location to location. A catalog of each location would be great but not sure how long it'd be accurate, which may explain the current state of reporting.

Hope that helps! Happy drinking. :drinking1

It has been my experience that you can get draft beer at any bar. You can use the mug in the dining room, during bingo sessions etc. The only place with no taps were the rolling carts that were on deck sometimes. If you don't see a tap, just ask your server (dining room or lounge) and they will help, or direct you to nearest location you can refill.

thanks so much for that picture..
We will be sailing on the magic...im making a note so i can remember to get this.....

Your plan is commendable, but depending on supply and demand, part b of your plan can prove quite variable.

We were on the MV of the Fantasy and O'Gills was kicking kegs left and right. The Guinness was gone by Tuesday and most of the micro brews were gone by Thursday. They were down to a few kegs of Kona Longboard by the end of the cruise. The bartenders said DCL based their demand numbers for O'Gills on the average consumption numbers at 687. O'Gills proved to be far more popular than 687, as it was packed every night. We were on the Dream about 6 months before the Fantasy MV and 687 was a ghost town. We were on the Dream again in January and not much has changed.

Other bars on the Dream sometimes changed beers as kegs ran out.

Sounds like in order to complete my plan I'll have to visit every bar every night. Darn!!
