So maybe I am a little bit of a wimp. But I am so deeply disturbed right now that I had to share.:rotfl2:

My mum just came in the door with a little care package for my dog (the one in my display picture!) with a few treats. One of the treats was a bag of pig's ears. Perhaps I have lived a sheltered life but I opened the bag to take one out and I felt something fuzzy. The ears had HAIR on the them. Little hairs poking out from the inside bit.:crazy2: I was suddenly aware that I was literally holding the ear of a dead pig.:laughing:

I've given her bones and such before but I guess I never actually thought of bones being actual BONES that belonged to a living thing before. I am so freaked out now.:rotfl: I want to go around the house and throw out all her bones but I don't even want to touch them. I had never really considered all this before.

Oh, to go back to the time of innocence when I didn't really realize that pigs ears were real ears and dog bones were real bones. :rotfl2:

Maybe I should go add dog bones to the irrational fears thread! LOL

You do realize that when you eat pork it actually comes from a pig that was alive once? You're eating MUSCLE!!:scared1::lmao:

JK :goodvibes The pigs ears are a little wierd huh? Have you seen the little piggie tail chews yet? They are worse than the ears.

Ewwwww....just wait till your dog get them all wet and slobbery....then your house will smell like there's an actual dead piggie in there:scared1:  :rotfl2:

:scared1:

I am never eating ribs again.:rotfl:

And ncmickeyluvr... I'm trying to decide whether or not to actually let her have an ear. I don't know if I could handle the visual of her going to town on the roasted ear of a once-living pig.:laughing:

Let her have it you big meanie! Look into her poor, sad underprivileged eyes and feel her longing for that yummy crunchy ear.

When I first got them I didn't really realize what they were either. :scared1: They are kind of creepy! That being said- they were of course my dog's absolute favorite thing to chew.

We got fresh bacon once. One of the outside pieces on the slab had hairs on it!:scared1:

Uh oh... is the DIS as strict about canine parenting as it is about parenting human children?:rotfl2:

My dog had those once. They made her very frustrated. And they don't eat them, they chew on them. But yeah eeeewwww. Good thing I don't eat pork!

You've seen the chicken nugget head, right? Now, what can be do about my chocolate addiction? Anything to turn me off of Reese's for good. My burgeoning muffin top hasn't worked yet!:lmao:

And, in case you hadn't noticed in the pet snack aisle, there's "fake" pig's ears for those of us who can't stomach watching our little darlings nosh on a real ear.:wizard:

OP, I can't handle the real things either:scared1:

Mmmm...filth, mold, AND insect infestations. I love chocolate!

I didn't know that! I'll have to get her some of those instead. Then maybe Magic Mom will let up on me a bit.

I know! Next time I eat a Snicker's bar I'm going to feel like I'm on Fear Factor or Survivor or something!:woohoo:

But do the "fake" pig's ears come with "fake" hair?! :lmao:
